Have to admit that I like the location, but I also have already booked for Geocoin Fest
It just seems we could have planned better, after all the day the Geocoin Fest was announced it was listed in our forums
04/06/2010 at 12:25 am #1926521Ok…I’m not the camping type..but I should be able to make it, barring a change in work schedule.

Not necessary to camp. It’s the picnic, like 9-6 on Saturday. Camping should be available at the park, if you want, or you can stay in a motel in the area or in the Dells or in the Rapids, etc., or just drive home (long way for you , Todd).
WGA Campout is May 14-16 south of Milwaukee. Here again, not necessary to camp if you want to make it a day event or stay in lodging somewhere.
04/06/2010 at 2:03 am #1926523Understandable that not everyone will be able to attend every event but the WGA Picnic is for the WGA members (not exclusive and non-WGA folks may certainly attend) and encompasses an IMHO, a larger percentage of cachers than does the GeocoinFest which draws primarily the coiners among us. I would have liked to attend the coinfest, I have never been to one.

One, maybe he did not know, or my guess is that the point of this was that there was a poll to show when the most interest would be for the picnic three years ago and that it should of happened again.

Just a gentle reminder that this weekend one was voted for by the membership. Nothing else was intended by it.

Thanks for doing that. And as a reminder, the board did vote a couple of years ago to have set dates for all of our annual events, so that our event schedules would be predictable and so that others could plan around our annual events. The second main reason that having set dates is desirable, is it decreases the amount of energy spent on date selection, allowing us to use those energies in more productive ways.

Sorry Furfool, no malice intended. I looked at the old forum post and didn’t see where the BOD resolution came out of it. I knew that the date was set by BOD resolution as the second Saturday following Labor Day.
I wasn’t sure if the post was for or against the date.I also wish that there wasn’t a conflict with the GeocoinFest but it is what it is.

05/01/2010 at 5:42 pm #1926531Just came back from our first drive-thru of the park today. Did a bit of walking there, too. Beautiful day for both. If anyone was thinking of checking out Roche-A-Cri before the fall picnic, the main entrance is now open.
05/01/2010 at 6:40 pm #1926532Packers have home game that weekend. Hmm..I might go to the campout, but leave campout Saturday night so I can go home to watch the game as well as beat the game traffic when going through Green Bay on the way home.
For those of you going to Geocoin Fest in Minnesota, Vikings have home game that weekend also.
05/18/2010 at 3:55 pm #1926533Todd, the picnic is only on Saturday. Looks like about a 2 hour drive for you, so unless you are going to stay overnight “just because”, you should be back home before the traffic hits.
05/25/2010 at 11:17 pm #1926534I plant to tackle that mountain seen in the event picture. Woofta!
It is a ways off still, but I hope to make it and get a chance to meet those attending.
