As some of you may know, I use a Pocket PC with a compact flash GPS receiver for geocaching (from what I have seen at events, I’m guessing I’m the only one in the state!). The biggest problem I have with this system is that it requires an external antenna, otherwise there are a lot of nice features. But it looks like my Pocket PC may be in its final days, so I’m in the market for a dedicated unit. I’ve looked briefly into the Garmin 60c/s and Magellan Explorist 300-600. Listed below are the things that I like about my current system. Can people tell me how these two models compare feature by feature? Also, if there are any other features that I should be aware of please let me know.
– large color screen (2″ x 3″)
– rechargable battery with reasonable time between charges
– expandable memory via SD card
– waypoint icons indicate both size (micro vs. regular) and kind of cache (virtual, multi, etc.)
– waypoint description includes cache’s short description, difficulty/terrain, owner, num TB’s, and decrypted hint)
– unlimited waypoints
– excellent reception, even in trees
– zoom in to 50 foot scale
– door to door routing with voice directions
– maps for the entire country including roads, rivers and lakes (one memory card probably holds about 10 states)
– POI (points of interest) – restaurants, schools, etc.One last thing – please let me know of any good online stores that you recommend.
Thanks,

They had excellent costumer service as I called a few times for questions and very fast shipment when the unit was available, the pricing was fairly compairable also. So I dont have any complaints on these

That’s where I ended up purchasing my 60CS. I’ve never had a problem with the unit. Although i’ve only had it about 8 months or so.
