What is your favorite cache ever?  Do you gravitate to a certain type of cache?

Please note: my comments are mine alone and may not necessarily reflect an official stance of the WGA Board of Directors.

It’s hard to pick one favorite. There are many excellent caches out there that are favorites for different reasons. “You Picked a Fine Time to Leave Me Lucille” was a blast finding with a great group kayaking down the Plover River.

All opinions, comments, and useless drivel I post are mine alone and do not reflect the opinions of the WGA BOD.

I have many favorite caches for different reasons. Cache container creativity, location of the cache, cache hider theme, time spent finding a cache, and that one cache that you finally get after many attempts. I guess I’m not a cut and dried person for a favorite cache ever, but I take in all aspects of what that cache meant to me to award a FAV POINT; and those points are not awarded just because I (we) have points to give.

I can tell you the hardest cache, most creative cache, stepping out of my comfort zone to find it cache, the longest trek to retrieve a cache, and that one cache that once you step back and have an “ahhh” moment to make the find. However, I cannot pick a favorite cache.

I went to the woods because I wished to live deliberately, to front only the essential facts of life, and see if I could not learn what it had to teach, and not, when I came to die, discover that I had not lived.

The candidate questions are only open to those that are nominated, so that we can get to know our nominees. Please feel free to ask questions of our nominees.

This is a tough question for sure since I have been to so many amazing caches! My favorite types of caches are ones that take me to awesome places. Geocaching is about the adventure for me so if it takes me to a place I would have never known about otherwise it is great in my book.

So I would have to choose Rolling Hills Cemetery (GC5WF1N) as my all time favorite cache. It was a very neat location with a lot of history that I would have never learned about if it weren’t for the cache.

My favorite cache has to be Tributary|Adventuring Walk. The wife and I just finished this one up on Thanksgiving morning, after contemplating the best time, and mode of arrival at GZ for about a year and a half. The walk along the Fox River in Appleton took us to areas we had never seen up close. The journey also took us across places that my wife would never have mustered up enough courage to get across without being on a geocaching adventure. That’s really what the sport is about for me; taking me to cool places and gaining great experiences with my spouse and kiddos!

Currently, my focus is on the LCG. Most of the lonely caches can take you on a journey. There also just seems to be something special about a cache container that hasn’t been touched by visiting hands for a few years and is still in great shape. There are also a good number of lonely caches that are puzzles, and of course this a great season to solve some of those while waiting out the deep freeze.

This is a question that I really can’t answer.  After reading this I went back and checked to see which caches I gave favorite points to and it brought back lots of memories (thank you for that).  They were all special to me for one reason or another.  Some because of the fun we had while searching for it, some for the location, some for the creativity, some for the adventure we encountered getting to ground zero, etc.  There are just way too many great caches to pick one and say it is my favorite.

Im a big fan of caches that take you somewhere new, and are not P&G’s.  For me my all time fav is GC2R5DJ Tributary | Adventuring Walk.  This was a classic, lots of walking, lots of fresh air, a completely unique puzzle to solve (at least for me), an awesome final.  That adventure conjures up a ton of memories.  Thats what its about for me, making memories and going on adventures.

Favorite cache is Out of Site (https://coord.info/GC232EV.  This is an example of how it takes a group of people to complete a good cache. Another could be Vampire Empire.  Its a classic style cache, gadgets at each stage sort of speak… and its going to be a hike and a half.  Why…. sign the log its worth it that’s why.
