Voting has already started for this election, but here’s an easy question that we hope won’t get anyone in trouble or cause anyone to rethink their votes for the BOD. There are no wrong answers.

We love caching in our state and hearing about all the good caches people have experienced and all of the stories that are told about caching adventures. Some may be epic and milestones, while others may be simple and special for other reasons. Many DNFs are memorable, too.

What was your favorite cache in Wisconsin to do and why?
If you can’t pin it down to one, share more, or if it’s a series, go with that, too.

    Have fun with this one.

(Now, that wasn’t too hard, was it? 😉 )

My favorite cache experience in Wisconsin was Hiking out to the Long Tail Point Lighthouse Ruins at the Mouth of the Fox River. Went out there with a great group of friends, and we all had a good time.

Going along with Todd300 for his 300th Find at GCZET5 Lookout Above I | Remnants On Oct 31 of last year.

Also the same day Todd and I went and did the Ed’s Lake Series GC1X5D0

The cache listed is at the parking area. Great hike with 11 caches about a 2 hour walk.

There are many that are memorable and some that are favorites.

one memorable one – Wayside Cavernous Cache (GCA37C)
My first high Difficulty/High Terrain (4/4) find back in 2007.

one favorite one – Kelly’s Island : French Creek (GCW5R4)
outstanding hike with a fantastic view at the final. (D2/T3)

The first one that comes to mind is going to find Mallalieu Canoe (GCGX6Y) in Hudson with my future father in law in Nov ’08. Temp was barely above 40, and it was over a mile paddling upstream in the kayaks. he had no real interest in the actual geocache, only really came along to make sure I didn’t get myself into trouble with the cold and whatnot. I wasn’t even sure if i would find it, since it was a LC that hadn’t been found in over a year, but we found it. Plenty of time for conversation too… it was the first real talks we had with no one else around.

The other favorite was going to North Country Trail: Swedish Settlement (GCT82X) with bme22 this summer. This cache is outside my hometown of Mellen, and I grew up hearing about the ruins, but had never actually made it out there. We spent the entire day doing the lonely caches in the area, with this one being the biggest prize. My favorite caches are the ones that bring me to places that give us a look back at history.

Dr.Evermore&Lady Eleanor by Hotdogs Off Trail (GC9E5E). We spent about an hour wandering around here after finding the container.

Very tough to pick just one but the number one top caching experience for me thus far was doing ‘I Have Seen The Light!’ – GCH485 by DCexplorer. My wife and I did this cache on an anniversary trip up to Door County back in 2007. This is a cache we will definitely revisit with the whole family one day.
