Although Favre was a class act…. I’m not upset to finally see him retire… no more pull a win out of my butt miraculous comebacks… (I’m a transplanted Viking fan)… 🙂
But, before too much gushing happens over him… remember he’s not even the greatest packer quarterback ever (if you consider championships the ultimate decider).
And, before too much “Yeah but the Viking’s never won a championship” arguments happen, I do consider Favre better than any quarterback the Vikings have ever had.03/18/2008 at 1:37 pm #1885513@SHOtime wrote:

Thanks for making your first post to the WGA boards!!!!
Fran Tarkenton was a good quarterback, but the last decent one the Vikes had.
And I cannot resist making note of the fact that the Pack has won 3 superbowls, and the Vikes have won a nice round number (zero).
Also, I have seen football played in the temple to the game (Lambeau) and the much closer to me travesty of a stadium (Metrodome). The Metrodome is a terrible place to watch the game, while watching football at Lambeau is a near religious experience.
The only thing that I know of that the Vikes have on the Pack, is that they have cooler looking helmets. 🙂

➡ Brett Favre retired?? ………anyways a Minnesota tribute better late than never!! 😆

On the Left Side of the Road...07/30/2008 at 12:56 pm #1885516Or maybe not………………………. I wish this was still true now.
08/11/2008 at 6:41 pm #1885517I don’t think so…
08/11/2008 at 7:45 pm #1885518It is time to rally around Aaron Rogers!
08/12/2008 at 2:28 am #1885519The Packers didn’t beg me to come back! No one sent me flowers! Ted Thompson hurt my feelings!!!! I just wanna cry! Waaaaaaaaahhhhh!!!!
Ooooh…I think I’m gonna get flamed for this one 😯 😯 😯 😯

Tacky.
Yet delightfully unrefined.

LOL.
I do believe that Favre is one of the top 5 quarterbacks ever to play the game, and has been the main reason that the Packers have done so well in recent years, so I am a huge fan of Favre. However, put me down as one who wishes he would have just stayed retired and not tarnished his career reputation, which is what I think is almost inevitable now.
As much as I like Favre, I think the Packers did the right thing.

I am too…still….
But come on! How many of us expect to be fawned over by our employers? It seems to be an unfortunate result of pro athletes being told how great they are on an ongoing basis…
Anyway, it’s water under the proverbial bridge.
On the Left Side of the Road...08/12/2008 at 4:16 pm #1885525I am a Packers fan first, and a Favre fan second.
I don’t think what Brett did was wrong though. He was forced to make the retirement decision early, and he made the wrong decision. He wanted to come back, and The Pack didn’t welcome him with open arms, and I don’t blame them, though I still wish they would have.
So, Brett takes a trade so he can still play. And, in his first live interview on TV with the jets making the big announcement, what does Brett say?
“I have always been a Packer, and I always will be a Packer”. So, no tarnished career. He should still have his number retired (when he retires) and should still get a street named after him.
Besides, there is a precedence for this. remember when Joe Montana finished his career in KC???
Thanks for all the great years, and all the memories Brett! As soon as I can find a #4 Favre Jets jersey for under $85, I’m getting one!
