I am a Packers fan first, and a Favre fan second.
I don’t think what Brett did was wrong though. He was forced to make the retirement decision early, and he made the wrong decision. He wanted to come back, and The Pack didn’t welcome him with open arms, and I don’t blame them, though I still wish they would have.
So, Brett takes a trade so he can still play. And, in his first live interview on TV with the jets making the big announcement, what does Brett say?
“I have always been a Packer, and I always will be a Packer”. So, no tarnished career. He should still have his number retired (when he retires) and should still get a street named after him.
Besides, there is a precedence for this. remember when Joe Montana finished his career in KC???
Thanks for all the great years, and all the memories Brett! As soon as I can find a #4 Favre Jets jersey for under $85, I’m getting one!
Second that. Well said!
I do know a lot of people saying “Brett Favre is not ‘The Packers’.” Honestly, neither is Ted Thompson. It’s sad that both sides let their egos get in the way of the common good.
Here’s a classic video on YouTube. There’s some language in the subtitles, so don’t show the kiddies:
a Bears fan sneaks into the conversation
…….boos and hisses abound…….
As a Bears fan, I’m really happy that Favre is gone.
There, now that I got that out the way, I feel the very best option didn’t happen and do we blame Brett or the Slackers (er, um – Packers)? Brett would’ve made a fantastic backup to the new guy. What more can a beloved, experienced quarterback do than help train the new guy to be his replacement?
No more injuries, no chance of having a horrible season with a new team, the fans still love you, your “legacy” is intact.
That didn’t happen and it’s a shame
We have added another cache to our Gandy Dancer Series in honor of Brett. Here is a link to it: http://www.geocaching.com/seek/cache_details.a … 5befb8e1b4
