On sunday 2-27-2011 Frank Buckles http://www.geocaching.com/seek/cache_details.aspx?wp=GC2MD6X passed away.
He was the last living American of WW1 and possibly the world. He had just turned 110 on the first of Feb.
As with all war patriots please thank them for their service.

What a great American story of pride and dedication. I heard about Frank on the radio this morning and thought it was interesting, but had no idea there was a cache. Add this to the growing list on my “Solved / Unfound” bookmark list.

Thanks for bringing this story to my attention. I love the caches that teach something!

I had noticed this cache while looking around to see what direction I might want to go after my storytelling gig in Madison next week. Sorry to hear this. There was a Spanish American War veteran who lived in town here in his own home until he died 20-25 years ago. I’d see him making his way to his mailbox and thought about all the stories he could tell. Thanks for helping more of us learn Mr. Buckles’ story.
