I just got back from vacation so I’m still sorting things out; but…
This is the final call for any Temp cache hiders who would like to volunteer to help on Sunday July 24 at NOON. You need not bring anything but yourselves, but if you are planning on helping…
You MUST notify me so I can plan accordingly. Do not just show up and plan to help; we must know who’s coming in advance.
I will be sending out an informational email this evening to those who’ve already contacted me.
Thanks to all… See you Sunday!

I would like to go on record as saying that I find the above statement EXTREMELY RUDE! While I understand the necessity of having a general idea of those players involved, I also understand that sometimes there are changes in plans. There may be someone who had a change and IS now available, but due to the fact that this message is out there, they aren’t going. As a member of the WGA I find things like this send a bad message to our members, as well as shadow readers of our threads. We should be thankful for all who wish to volunteer, and we should make a place for them no matter what! I find it very hard to believe that if someone shows up to help, they won’t be allowed to do so because they didn’t send an advance email to someone else.
One question: What the heck is happening to the WGA? (yeah, I know…another MB attack…get over it!)
07/22/2005 at 6:23 pm #1758932Personally, I did not find anything in arcangl7’s posting that I would call RUDE. I might call it direct and to-the-point, but not rude.
I would suspect (and I’m just guessing here) that it might be hard meet up with the fellow temp-hiders if someone showed up unexpected. Even if there is a “home base” for hiders it is likely that there won’t be anybody there for most of the day. So anybody who wasn’t expected would just have to stand around and wait, not knowing times /FRS Channel / etc…
07/22/2005 at 9:52 pm #1758933In order to avoid being rude to Major Brat…
I would ask kindly that if anyone is willing to assist in hiding temporary caches, please email me ahead of time, so I can have enough materials available, have enough cache containers to go around, and have the park divided up into enough areas for everyone to cover as much territory as possible.
However, Major Brat, you are more than welcome to just plain old show up if you’d like without any prior notification. I’m sure I’ll find something for you to do.

Yea, it would be great if the pit toilets were polished and smelling fresh when the rest of us get there.
07/23/2005 at 2:23 am #1758935Another friend might be coming with me to help out. Just thought I’d give you the heads up.

Cathunter, you are my new hero! LOL.
And some people talk about others taking things too seriously. Sheez. Arcangl is doing a great service to the WGA by organizing the temp cache hides. I say: Either pitch in to help, offer to help in some other way, or appreciate the effort of others and thank them for volunteering their time. Or better yet, why not all three?

07/23/2005 at 2:16 pm #1758937I personally didn’t interpret this as being rude at all. I interpret it as being organized and prepared.
I’ve spearheaded the hiding team on several occasions and have posted similar messages. We are not exclusionary. We need all the help we can get. We do however need to know how many people will be coming, so we can prepare the materials and establish the game plan.
If we aren’t expecting you to arrive, there may not be anyone there to greet you when you get there, and give you the materials.
A lot of planning, organization, and record keeping is involved in the hiding process. Those of you have helped out in the past will certainly agree there is a need to RSVP if your coming.
It’s all part of the fun
