Our cache was recently muggled. We scouted around and found a new, not likely to muggled area to hide it in (hopefully). It is still in the same park, the same virtual part exists, but the final cache is rehidden about .10 from its previous location.
Is this considered a “new” cache? If someone has already visited the old cache hiding spot and logged it and now finds the new cache hiding spot should they log this as a find or should they post a note?
I have not encountered this before and was wondering what the general concensus is.
09/16/2004 at 10:18 am #1740035R&R Wanderers moved a cache from an area that had stinging nettles to a real nice location, changed it to a micro and allowed people to log the cache a second time if they found the new one. It was very different from the original but perhaps .1 mile away from the original.
New math at your virtual part would put this cache in kind of the same situation. I think I would keep the original cache going instead of creating another. Allowing to log as another find might be something to concider.
I’m curious what the general consensous on this one will be.

“A bad day of hunting is better than a good day at work”09/16/2004 at 12:43 pm #1740037I also agree. Keep it the same cache, but at the same time allow others who found it to refind it as if it was a new cache.
09/16/2004 at 9:55 pm #1740038If hunting the cache is going to be like a whole different experience for the hunter- i.e. completely different hunt……….. then it should be a new cache.
If it’s basically the same with some minor changes in the hide or the hunt, then move it and keep it the same.
More than once I have had a cache on my pq that I went to, only to find myself walking down the same trail as the other cache or former cache at the location. I prefer not to go somewhere thinking i’m hunting a new hide, only to find it is all too similar to the previous or other one I hunted in the same park.
09/16/2004 at 11:06 pm #1740039We left the cache with the same name and brought you to the same plaque to do the math. At this point the math problem is slightly different and you are off in another direction that is a bit more challenging to find the final.
I posted in the description that previous visitors are welcome to find the cache again and they can use their discetion as to whether or not they want to log it a find or as a note. I have no problems if they want to log it as a find again.
Not sure if this is “correct” procedure on our part, but hopefully, it won’t be an issue and people will get out and enjoy the hunt.
