Hi there,
We were out on this beautiful day enjoying the wonderful new Fire series on the Sheboygan River in the Kiel Marsh. (GC2NQJF & etc) There are 10 great caches and you’ll have a blast… go for it.
The reason I’m posting though is that we found some very interesting tracks. From looking online, I think they are from River Otters. I’m EXCITED about this 🙂 (easily amused I guess) and was hoping someone who knows about such things could verify or refute whether these are River Otter tracks??? They had randomly alternating slide marks with footprints. Pics are here: http://www.geocaching.com/seek/log.aspx?LUID=c4bde3a2-fe5e-4607-977d-94b4cdc1e8b6
yep you found otter tracks, if you would have searched around, they usually have a way to get under the ice near shore, usually in a boggy part, they keep the hole open all winter to be able to access to find fish for food
Thanks Sweetlife! I am SO excited! Otters are SO cool! 😆
What a treat! We were caching in Ashland a couple years ago in the bay below Joy’s or Anglers All or whatever it’s called now, and something came toward us in the morning mist. Turned out to be four otters enjoying an early morning swim. Such fun.
Here are some that we found last winter at Sir Tristain’s Island Cache GC1W0TG
The last one is the otter hole into the lake

Wow, it would be great to actually see the otters. Sweetlife, those tracks are just like what we saw. Thanks for posting. I found a fun little video of some otters sliding in the snow: http://www.naturefootage.com/video_clips/KW37_021
