After Firefox 3 is release soon they are going to try and set a Record for the most software downloads in a 24hrs. I know some of you use Firefox, and thought maybe you would want to help try and set a record too.

I’ve been using the early releases of Firefox 3 for a few months now and am very impressed with its speed and stability improvements over the current Firefox 2.

I just pledged my download. I hope they have the server capacity to make this possible!

I’m in. also glad for the new version. Firefox is great. I wonder how long it will take microsoft to release IE8 that will no doubt include some of the features we can already have in firefox. Except the excellent security features… they won’t include those.

Now that they finally released a date (June 17th) I’m all signed up!

I believe the June 17th release date is also the date they are going to try for the record.

Well today’s the day, Firefox 3 is out now. The website was down for a few hours(when the whole world showed up at the same time) but it’s up again now. Looks like over 2million downloads so far!

This link shows total downloads and average per minute.

    http://downloadcounter.sj.mozilla.com/

As of right now there are 3.7million total downloads with an average of 11,000 downloads a minute. The U.S. alone has an total of 1.5million with an average of 7500 downloads a minute.

The 24hour period for setting the record I believe ends at 10am today. I wonder what the totals will be then.

I have been using Netscape/Mozilla/Seamonkey for about 10 years now (lately however I have been trading off with IE). I just downloaded this new FireFox version…it is FAST. From a functionality stand IE has come a long way (following Mozilla’s lead), IE almost had me converted…but this new FireFox version so far has made me very happy.

Thanks for bringing this on the boards.

I messed up and started too early on the 17th as I only got the last 2.0 version. I got home today from vacation and got the 3.0 version. 😳
