Geocaching is the same but the hides do vary across the state. It would be great if we could look at the numbers of geocachers across our state and where they are located.

ReneeI hear people say that the hides are different across the state. What is one of the biggest differences that you have noticed? Anyone who has done extensive or any amount of caching across the state is welcomed to answer (even you Marc 5digits!) Thanks.
01/29/2007 at 1:27 am #1768759What I have seen:
* More longer hikes up North and in country areas west of Milwaukee with larger cache containers.
* In Milwaukee areas I see more mircos (35 mm) and rock hides.
* Appleton and surround areas, we have the famous WCC series of micros.
* In general, up in the N.E.W. area we do have some very creative hides and containers.Kind of a mix all around I guess. I can speak for myself and caching buddies, we like to hide in a unique manner with different types of containers. so I guess it depends on WHO the hider is as well as the area. I try to stay in Manitowoc Co, but also have some in Marinette Co., since we have a cabin up yonder.

I have found areas that are all micros but creatively hidden or creative containers in urban parks.
I have found areas that give the clue “off the ground” and they really mean the cache is off the ground.
I have found areas that are one 35mm canister after another 35mm canister after another.
I have found caches that have nice walks in the woods.
I have found caches that are hidden in older historic cemetaries.
And honestly, I do like the variety.AuntieNae
01/29/2007 at 12:53 pm #1768761I think one of the most interesting thing I’ve found is the diversity in containers. Some areas are heavily concentrated with film canister placements, some with uncamoed peanut butter jars and uncamoed Tupperware. Some areas have heavy camo on everything. Some areas have a heavy concentration of ammo cans, while other areas rely heavily on Altoids tins.
In my part of the state, you’ll find a wide variety of hiding styles and “camouflage”
02/11/2007 at 10:15 am #1768762The WGA is the STATE and as should be.
The WGA should have concerns about all the state and yes I have cached many parts of the state. The finds do not very that much. If you can place a amo can it’s done in most places.
I will see all the state not only my area. We all are UNITED !! RIGHT!!
