Some of you may be interested in the stats listed on the Boulter page. Here is the page:

If you dont care about numbers, it will be of no interest whatsoever. But for those who do, it is a lot like the old House of Brew site that use to be linked to the WGA site, before it was taken down. Lots of interesting stats.

Whilst caching in MN this fall, we first ran into caches by King Boreas. At that time he had abt. 1300 caches, now it’s over 1500. Even though some archived caches are in those stats…holy cow. How the heck do you even find 1500 places to put caches w/in a 100 mile radius of your home coords, let alone maintain them? That’s not a criticism, I’m just incredulous…

Who in the world possibly cares about stats? 😀

On a totally unrelated topic, I see to even be included on this very exclusive list, that you must have at least 2000finds. Look like I better kick it in the bum a little.

My #’s in comparison to the big boys are nothing to get too excited about until I looked at total # of Earthcaches. My 34 puts me up there. Woo Hoo!

It is very easy to find 1500 places to put caches. There are plenty of communal junk yards and random dirt roads that don’t have caches.

I am personally disappointed that Lagrac doesn’t share his caching gallery photo of GC12KKF at this point.

LOL. Well, I did that one, and it is indeed just a little utility bag tossed on the ground near a garbage pile, at a trailhead. Certainly not the best cache I have seen, but I took the smiley, so I cant complain too much.

Anyway, it is interesting that Ozguff and King Boreas have so many hides, and that is one of the interesting things ya get from the stats page (though KB is not yet listed). However, I did not intend this topic to go off in the direction of slamming individuals. There is plenty of that on the gc.com and MNGCA forums, and it gets kind of old pretty quick. I am more of a “live and let live” type of guy, I guess.

I will say that when someone has as many caches as KB has, some are gonna be not the best. However, if you look at the photos of GC130GX, another cache of his just .2 miles away as the crow flies, and a mile up the trail, you will see photos of a great view of the valley below, a place that I discovered because of a great KB cache.

I guess that is why I do em all. You dont know if anyone’s cache is great or lame, until ya hike out there and see.

A piece of plastic you have lying around, a scarp of paper, and throw it over your shoulder!

There, Ralph, I said it for you!

And it was cleverly camoed by surrounding piles of animal feces. Eww!

I took the smiley and ran! Should have asked for two!

Here is another stat page, with limited usefulness, but it is the only one that lists folks by the number of caches hidden:

34 EC’s is impressive! My 22 is still decent but I can see I need to get my butt moving to get into the elite ranks….that said, I think there are about 10-15 in the area I still haven’t gone after…
