My logs are very predictable. Same format. Most of my runs are of multiple and I say how many I got, usually who I am with and where we went, maybe something about the weather. Then I close with TFTC,and my signature shamless self promotion. I cut and paste that into all my logs for that run. BUT if there was something that I remember from that certain cache between the ramble and the TFTC I put somethign extra in it. This allows me even to have more then TFTC even at the plain old P&G. 90% of the time I am able to remember something about the hide the location or what not and I add something. There are some ( and most of my hides are like this) plain old easy hides. I do not expect more then a TFTC on most of my hides so I dont add anything to my logs.

I do believe that smart phones allowing to log a cache “from the field” probably do lead to non-expressive logs for the lazy type. I’ve also seen cacher’s use this well also where they log a quick found and then come back and edit it later so it’s really just about the person and what they want to log.
I use this only on FTF. My phone allows me to put a timestamp, and usually I throw a FTF TFTC on it and then go back and edit it when I get home. Maybe I should stop this so other people think they still have a chance 🙂
06/02/2010 at 9:56 pm #1930206Oh and to get back on topic, I do not police what I believe to be “fake” online logs on my own caches. But I agree with past posters that it’s probably more about the particular cache circumstances. Certainly, if it’s a 5/5 puzzle cache things might be different than a 1/1 guardrail. But it is your cache and you can do what you feel is right regardless of what all of us think.
06/02/2010 at 9:59 pm #1930207I suppose we did drift….Thanks Cheeto
06/02/2010 at 10:00 pm #1930208yup, thats it, field notes (sorry, i am technologically challenged!!).. although I would love to know how to remove those darn things from my gps!!! (I can delete my finds, but my field notes stay)
opps, sorry, drifted 😯
06/02/2010 at 10:12 pm #1930209On my oregon it is found at
Garmin Oregon(H)/Garmin/Geocache_visits
It is a Text File, on my oregon, I just trash it, it reapears when I log more finds in the field.
06/03/2010 at 2:39 am #1930210yes, i deleted their logs. now today it looks as though they changed their name and relogged the same caches. my emails to this person go unanswered.
06/03/2010 at 2:52 am #1930211Cross-threading here with the new gc.com features……..if you let me log one of your caches that I didn’t really do, cheeto, then I will ‘Like’ your cache….
Back on track now, sorry Peach 🙄
06/03/2010 at 2:59 am #1930212Repeatedly posting false logs to the same cache is consider harassment of the cache owner and is a violation of the terms of service of geocaching.com. If you feel this is happening to one of your caches, please contact a reviewer or email Groundspeak with the details and the problem will be “handled with extreme prejudice.”

Not true! We’ve liked every single one we’ve done (about 30), and most of the ones we just say we’ve done (about another 20.) 😉06/03/2010 at 10:27 pm #1930215You still have caches out there -Cheeto-? Guess I’ve missed a few.
