I was walking my dog in the area by the old city incinerator at the north end of military ave in Green Bay. I happened upon the logbook, “House of Straw” by the Wentz Family of Green Bay. It was just laying on the ground, rather wet and forlorn. There was no cache I could see. I think someone may have raided the cache and tossed the logbook. From the entries, it sounds like it was a cool cache. If anyone knows the owner of the cache, I dried out the log and would see that the owner gets it back, if they want it. Thanks.

I did a quick search, but didn’t find a cache with that name near Green Bay. Maybe it was archived? (The Big Bad Wolf probably got it!)

I’ve never geocached up around there. Anybody else know this cache or the owners?

A couple of thoughts crossed my mind. If the logged entries are all from a single date, It would suggest an event cache; If the logged entries are accompanied by stamps, it would suggest a letterbox rather than a geocache; it may be a Navicache. Example find dates and finder names would also help, the date found by “Astro-D” or “What’s Next?” or “Taxman” are good examples that may lead to finding the owner.

Interesting. I live about 30 miles from there and have been Geocaching since 2001 and have never heard of that cache.

What are some of the team names and dates in the log? Now I’m really curious!

After a search, I would guess it belongs to the letterboxing “Three Little Pigs”.

Did anyone contact Papeseed the placer? That makes more sense than a cache I guess!

Thanks for the ideas. More info on “House of Straw”. I looked in the phone book (duh!) and found what I think is the family that placed it, so I called and left a message on their machine with my phone number. The “box”, as the logbook says, was placed 9/9/04. There were entries by Gold Glove, Waggonman, and many non-Green Bayers. The last entry was Bikercats from Lindenhurst, Il. on 9/4/05. I’ll let you know if I hear from the family that placed it.

Thanks for your help. The owner of
“House of Straw” called me back. They were very happy to hear that someone found their logbook. I will be returning it to them tomorrow. She mentioned that this is part of the “Three Little Pigs” series.”
