I’ve used mygeocachingprofile.com but haven’t updated our profile in ages.
So I decided to update it today and loaded a new “my finds” query.
In the section where you choose what info to display, it shows a complete listing of our FTFs within the “Memorable Finds” selection section. However, the listing does not actually show in the memorable finds display area–it shows “No FTFs Yet.”
Again, the program knows all the FTFs are there–it has them all listed. But it does not seem to know they are there when rendering the display.
Any thoughts on this hugely important and pressing technical problem? 😆
On the Left Side of the Road...01/05/2012 at 7:13 pm #1955748I think you may have been looking at an old cache page. (Cache takes on a double meaning here, cool 8)) Just refresh the home page that’s supposed to show the FTF’s at geocaching.com.
I just looked at your profile – it SHOWS your FTF’s. There’s 149 of them listed, the most recent being from 12/23/11.
However, if there’s a bunch of them missing, here’s the other answer:
At the “Build my Profile” tab, scrolling down to the “My Memorable Finds” section, you would have to manually enter the GC numbers of all of your “missing” FTF’s or let the program automatically find every log that you’ve entered with the phrase “FTF.” However, the auto-find could list some caches where you weren’t FTF but mentioned the phrase “FTF” in your log.

Then, you would go to the “Preview and Export File” tab and make sure that the box is checked that states “Include First To Find Section in Profile.”

I hope that helps. Nice job on the 140+ FTF’s!
01/05/2012 at 7:17 pm #1955749➡ The “Build My Profile” tab and the “Preview and Export File” tab that I’m referring to are at mygeocachingprofile.com, not at geocaching.com.
01/05/2012 at 7:24 pm #1955750That is WEIRD and they were NOT there before.
What I think happened is that the FTF display is “dynamic.” In other words if you look at the HTML you post into your profile, it links to an image stored on the mygeocachingprofile site.
So I’m guessing that sometime after I updated my profile, the service finally processed the file and the image got re-rendered.
Or something…whatever!
On the Left Side of the Road...01/06/2012 at 3:07 am #1955751Only 120 more FTF’s and we’ll catch up with you. Might be tough though – we’re probably going to limit ourselves to only one per month if possible. So in about 10 years at that pace . . .
01/06/2012 at 1:40 pm #19557522008 was a huge and unusual year for us, with a lot of caches being published close by and several large series. In the past two years I can count the number of caches published within 10 miles of us on one hand.
About half of our FTFs are puzzles and, For the most part, our FTFs lately are pure happenstance. On the three most recent ones, one was a traditional, but off the beaten path in an area we had coincidentally scheduled a trip to. The other two were puzzles that had been in the field for over a year.
