I can relate here…I’ve spent a month + looking, and missed the last one from a random shipment to walmart by 4 seconds… When the guy with the last one looked at me, he turned pale… if it had not been for my nerves of steel cotten woven fiber, y’all would’ve seen me on cnn.com

I remember back in 87′ when my wife and I were first dating. I drove up to Marshfield to spend our first X-mas together and with her family at their homestead. Gift opening doesn’t happen until after dinner which is around 2 in the afternoon. Anyway, one of the first gifts opened was a rock. I started wondering what the hell kind of a family am I going to marry into. As it turned out, years earlier my mother-in-law gave my father-in-law a wallet or something that was very light in weight. So to try to fool him a bit, she went out and found a rock to wrap up and place in the package. A tradition was born. Every year there after someone received that very rock. I never did get to unwrap the thing, so I don’t know if I should feel left out or not. The tradition died out when my mother-in-law died three years ago. My wife was thinking of starting it up again, but I think she should let it go. You know, something special to remember about her folks.
Anyway, I hope that everyone’s Christmas was a safe one.
We have had a Wii for a long time and find it interesting that so many people are still having trouble finding one. It’s the best thing since sliced bread… excellent way to give the gift! My son recommends MySims and if your children have friends over, the Wario party game is another gem.
Now back to the topic…
My story is a current one as well. My nephew (who’s 3) opens up an ornament from his grandmother. It’s a JD tractor ornament. Says, “Throw this one in the garbage!”. Classic!Were still not sure why he said it.
It sure is funny to see the reactions of children when they open gifts…

Oh and one more interesting story from that same get together…
So my inlaws decided this year that for the “large gifts” (you know, the one’s too big to wrap, traditionally called blanket gifts) they were going to wrap small strange items with a note that says “This _____ can be exchanged for one blanket gift”.
So towards the end, I opened what was to be “my last gift”. It was in fact a paper clip in a box with the exchange note inside. However, upon further review, there was to be no exchange.
You see, they wrapped too many of these and accidentally gave me an additional one. So I received a paper clip from my inlaws as my “best gift”.
The irony of the story is, my daughter received an electronic journal that records her voice to open it. She just couldn’t decide what to say! Wouldn’t you know, it required an object to press the “Reset” button way inside it to record a new password! Dad to the rescue…
Moral of the story, sometimes paperclips make great christmas presents.
Lesson learned by the in-laws, make sure you don’t go overboard with the “exchange this for..” presents. You might run out of stock. Can I ask for a raincheck?
Yesterday morning, while opening gifts with the fam, TDSKid had a great one.
A little background first. My wife (TDSGal) had requested that no one buy her her favorite perfume this year because she didn’t care for it anymore. That perfume is White Diamonds.
So, TDSGal gets handed a gift from me and opeens it. Its a solitaire Diamond necklace. So, TDSKid says, “oooh Daddy, Mommy said you weren’t supposed to buy her any diamonds this year!”.
OK, somehow it seemed funnier being there than seeing it written.

yeah yeah yeah..rub it in… I’ll probably get mine at the first place I looked too…walmart… but for now, I go without… plus the thrill is kinda gone, it may wait until the kids bday’s…
We did our first round of gift openings on Sat. night with two DD’s their bf’s and our grandson. When grandson age 4 found out that he was going to spend Christmas at his dad’s he started to cry. We were all surprised as he loves to visit his dad. Then he explained that he had told Santa that he would be at the apartment. He insisted on calling his Dad right away so his Dad could call Santa and give him the address to the house he would be at and let Santa know he would not be at the apartment. I thought that was cute.
Mrs. TEMy niece 4years old, christmas day, at my parents house, was opening her first present from the Papa, and Grandma, ( a fisher price digital camera) her exact words were “What?? No WAY! OH MY GOD!”
my Nephew (1 years old) that morning at his parents house (same family) Santa had given the cool toys and such and the parents the clothes and boring such. Well first thing the kids open was the Santa gifts then the parents gifts, Cole (my nephew) opened the first gift from his parents which was pjs and looked up at kevin with this look like ” you have got to be kidding me dad”
