Our GPSr has made us laugh several times but this week she really got us when she called Outagamie St. Too gaamy Street and the cache “Take A Seat” “Tacky Sea”. Thought it would be fun to share some that others have heard.

Down in Madison, whenever I need to take Cnty Rt MM, my Nuvi tells me to turn on to County Route Millimeters.

The city of Shawano is pronounced Shaw No. Most people not familiar with how to pronounce it say Sha Wah No. My Nuvi somehow comes up with She Ann No.

Same thing with us, Bassanio. Birdin’ and I were caching near Madison, and we had to turn on to County Road MM, which her navigation unit called County Road “Millimeters”. Must be that same lady in the box.

Not a navigation unit, but no doubt a relative… the automated voice on the weather radio during severe weather. When a storm is approaching us from the west, it is expected to hit, and then they say different places when. It’s not Fort McCoy, but “Fort MC Coy”, as in MC Hammer.

I have a lower end Nuvi so it doesn’t say the names, but when we neared the Merrimac Ferry last year it said “Take Ferry Across River”. I thought that was a bit funny and was actually surprised it knew it was a ferry.

My dad’s car unit (not sure of the model) has trouble with Cty Hwy AW near Fox Lake. It says to turn on Cty Hwy AW (as in awe isn’t that funny).

I was up in Sweetlife’s neck of the woods a couple weeks ago and drove on County Hwy W for a while. The nuvi kept calling it “County Road West.” It confused me at first, because I was driving east. 😆

All opinions, comments, and useless drivel I post are mine alone and do not reflect the opinions of the WGA BOD.

We had an experience with our GPS telling us to take a ferry to get to a certain restaurant for dinner. We thought it was hilarious. It was this dinky little ferry that ran about once a day. We put the “ferry avoidance” option on, then forgot about it. Then last summer we were driving around the Olympic Peninsula and trying to get to Olympic NP. You should have seen how long it took our GPS to try and come up with a route that didn’t involve ferries! We then had to turn the “ferry avoidance” back off.

My favorite GPS moment though was when we were coming over Independence Pass in the Rockies. If you’ve done any of those mountain-summit roads you know that there is only one dinky lane on each side and sometimes it even just melds into one lane total to get around a difficult bend in the road. You’re taking sharp turns on steep roads with switchbacks and hundred foot drop-offs next to you. OK, I’ve set the stage. So we’re heading down the pass and it suddenly tells us to take a right at county road D. What?! If we take a right we die, there’s nothing but air on the right. My husband looks over the side (I am driving) and starts laughing. There was a tiny deer trail where this supposed county road D was supposed to be. I figured I’d better stick with the road, even if it wasn’t the fastest way down. ❗

When I took my nuvi to Anchorage, AK, it told me to turn right onto Minnesota Doctor (Minnesota Dr.) Drive=Doctor

        Silly nuvi

Ditto for me. The other day we were driving through miladore to ;ittle chicago. cty. rd. S was County Road South and N was North of course. However, Cty Rd NN is “ennen” like – rhymes with Mennen.

Ya gotta like a self censoring GPS…

Yes, we have been told to board ferry a couple times. Or “Off Road” is someone’s yard or across a cemetery.

Loony Lori and I have nicknamed my Nuvi, “Joyce” for reasons not too nice to be mentioned here. But we Laugh out loud every time she says…..”RECACULATING!” and too often I might add!
