I know it is a little early but I am planning on buying a Garmin 60csx and city navigator with my refund from uncle Sam 😀 . I would like to know if anyone who has experience with this unit and mapping system if he/she/they want to get together with me and help me set it up and show me some things they have learned with there unit/mapping system. I don’t have the unit and software yet but I hope to get it soon I was just trowing my line out there to see if I can get all my ducks in a row before I get it. so I can go caching with out to much down time. right now it has been 3 weeks since my last trip where my 60cs stop working and I had to call garmin almost everyday to finally have them tell me that I need to send it in for repairs. so I have the itch to get out there. I wont be able to make the camp out 🙁 but i would like to go ASAP.

My name is Kevin and I have an addiction to Geo-Caching. I can Quit at anytime. Its no big deal. 😆

    Thanks,
    Kevin

We have a 60csx as one of our units. I’d be happy to share what I have learned about it with you.

Your going to love CN. No more trying to read a map while driving, memorize one or guess how to get to a new area driving through a subdivision following the arrow.

There is no doubt in my mind we have saved enough in gas to pay for the CN MicroSD card. Of course its not perfect (like telling me to stop in the middle of I-94 to get a cache) its still a great caching tool.

well here it is a weird one. ok if look at earlier post you can see that i have been having problems with my GPS. well here is the weird thing. before vacation i just checked to see if there were any updates for it so i could use the dang thing. i have checked before like once a week and it kept saying no new updates. well like i said i just wanted to check and it said no new updates so i clicked finish and then there was an updated for the WAAS feature. i clicked finish again and now my GPS work’s better than it did before when i used it this weekend it kept me in (under tree cover) to a +/- 4 feet. is this weird or what or have i been missing something. any help would be great.

if you are using the webupdater this is normal. basically it first checks for unit software, then it asks if you would like to check for additional updates. This update you got was probably for the units chipset which could easily change the overall behavior of the unit.
I’ve read hundreds of forum posts about the chipset software getting messed up and the unit acting screwy. one sure way to tell was if you checked the unit software/chipset in the menu of the unit the chipset would always say version 0.00 instead of what it should.

off the top of my head I believe you check the unit software here: main menu, setup, system and click menu and select software version.

I am just happy it is working better now. One of the problems is if it was just a little overcast I could not get a lock on any satilites. now yesterday I turned it on while it was starting to storm and it took a little bit but I got a lock on and even got 3d. now how often should I look for updates once a month or just wait until my unit goes weird.
