Can someone describe or post a Markwell on how to make the Garmin Mapsource look on the Hard drive for stored maps vs. checking the CD in the CD Rom drive?
I want to copy the maps to my HD and not have to switch disks or always have to have it in.
Any help is much appreciated.

I have Mapsource Topo maps, Road & Recreation, Metro Maps and World Map and depending on what I am loading I always just switch CD’s. I know that for Metro and Topo East – I never have to have the CD in , so I must have loaded it onto the hard drive at installation is what I assume.
I have found that the ones I like best are the Metro and Topo. You can do without Roads & Rec and World Map (which is not much different from the basemap anyway).

During the installation process (if memory serves me). It asks what maps you want loaded and I believe you have to check every map that you wish to load onto the hard drive.
Hope it helps. Mark

and a full install, but there is only a typical install on the installation itself. The typical installation runs from the CD.Thanks everyone for replying, and Cachew, I think that is what I was looking for. I’ll try it out tonight.

12/05/2003 at 2:44 pm #1739621I copied the entire CD onto a folder on the hard disk (doesn’t really matter which one)then just ran the installation program from that folder. It works great (and it’s easy).
