sad thing is me and my wife just bought a pop up camper. Burlington RV lists it at $4000.00 but we are getting it for $1300.00. so we plan on using or government spending check on a trip to high cliff state park and i think that is the only trip we will be able to make this year with the camper.
04/22/2008 at 2:18 am #1759656The thing is, it’s almost getting to be like “Whatever” when we go to fill up. $3 a gallon is nothing now–remember when it was so terrible? Will we get used to $4 after a while?
It was only a little over six years ago that we last got gas for 99 cents–but that was for a brief time and it wasn’t in Wisconsin.
We took a trip to Colorado in September of 2006, and we paid $1.99 in Des Moines. And don’t even get me started on the 29 cent gas and the gas wars of the early Seventies!
Wonder what the price will be in 2010 when someone bumps this thread up on the forums again?
04/23/2008 at 9:03 pm #1759657Keep geocaching in the states, guys. We went to Canada in ’05 and paid $.95/liter (or litre there). Can you say $3.81 USD/gal.
04/23/2008 at 9:29 pm #17596583.81 is not to far off from what I saw today was 3.54 in Appleton. When they raise it 5 or 10 cents or more per hike it won’t take long to reach that price.
04/23/2008 at 10:20 pm #1759659$3.69 in Greenfield and Waukesha today
04/23/2008 at 11:10 pm #1759660As of 4/21, I saw $3.73 at BP in Menominee Falls at Appleton and Good Hope.
04/23/2008 at 11:51 pm #1759661…not sure what the price was but I just put an even $50 in my Sable.

That ought to get you to work. Now how about getting back home?
04/30/2008 at 1:24 am #1759663We passed this gas station just this past Sunday unfortunately, my tank was full at the time.
04/30/2008 at 1:49 am #1759664I paid 3.61 this morning. That’s over $75.00 to fill my car!

I’ve got you beat! I haven’t been able to fill my car at most gas stations for quite awhile. Many pumps used to stop at $50, then they raised it to $75. Now, even at $85 my tank isn’t full. I can’t figure out why they won’t let me buy as much gas as I want when my credit card has already been entered.
40 gallons!
04/30/2008 at 11:29 am #1759666Gusty Winds is right…I don’t like these prices any more than the next cacher, but when we were on our British honeymoon in 1980, the petrol over there came out to the equivalent of about $4/gal. We’ve had it good for a long time here. I’ve finally convinced one of my coworkers to do some carpooling, so hopefully that can offset some of our geocaching fuel miles.
04/30/2008 at 2:44 pm #1759667I remember when I lived in Northern Colorado, and we used to drive 40 mile each way to fill up up Wyoming since they had lower taxes, and gas was about .55 cheaper. we used to fill up a dozen 5 gallon cans and squeeze as much as we could in the dual 20 gallon tanks in our old GMC. We could do the WHOLE WORKS for about what it costs me to fill up just my Explorer now…
I know that was awhile ago, but it wasn’t THAT long ago the gas was under a buck. And then we rode home in the back of the truck with no seat belts standing up on the highway while State patrol cars passed us…..the good old days. 😯
04/30/2008 at 3:03 pm #1759668$3.75 a gallon on the way into work this morning….I’m guessing it will be higher on the way home from work….
04/30/2008 at 11:14 pm #1759669$3.84 up here in Eagle River, gettin’ ready for the fisherfolk…
