I read that earlier; I should have posted that as well. It looks like they are making fairly large upgrades….er, um…I mean changes.

apparently they are adding the ability to pick your GPS device on your profile page. Interesting update to choose to implement. Saw a brief glimpse of it before they took the site down a 2nd time.

a very ambitious site update so I am not surprised it’s been down most of the afternoon.

It looks like it is a marketing tool. I’m guessing they will be getting some cache ( I mean cash) for turning over the information to GPS manufacturers. They do ask for ratings and reviews…hey if the extra money they make from this data helps keep the hamsters rolling so be it…but how do I add all three units?

…Or, they could be gathering the ratings out of the goodness of their hearts and for the betterment of all…. Looking at the new ratings pages (http://www.geocaching.com/gps/Manufacturer.aspx?id=17), it looks like they will be helping folks find good unite…and I so liked the big business marketing sellout theory….

You know, I got to beta test the new site features and the section about the GPS was then called “My Gadget Bag”. Someone brought up the point that a “bag” should be able to hold more than one item. So they changed the name to My GPS… 😕 I believe they are planning to add multiple GPS functionality (and Palms, PocketPCs, etc.) soon.
