went to order up a pq tonite and found that gc.com is down for maintainence. sure hope it’s back up by tomorrow
05/17/2007 at 3:43 am #1874536planned outage for a Database Server upgrade.
05/17/2007 at 4:15 am #1874537I found that out as I was trying to send a confirmation e-mail on a virtual cache I did this evening.
05/17/2007 at 12:11 pm #1874538It’s back up again..check out the visit section of the cache pages, as it now breaks it down between finds, no-finds, notes, etc.
05/17/2007 at 1:18 pm #1874539WOW! Have you seen all the new cool stuff they did with the cache pages??? 😛 😈
05/17/2007 at 1:48 pm #1874540There are alot of cool new features, and you can add friends 😆

I have no friends….. 😥
05/17/2007 at 2:19 pm #1874542Now, if they’d only take my suggestion and put a big red check mark at the top of the page to show that you have done that particualr cache…

I see a breakdown of logs by type (nice) and images are shown as thumbnails underneath the log. That’s all I can find, am I missing some features?
05/17/2007 at 6:05 pm #1874544I like how the pictures actually show up right away on the cache page, I wonder how that will affect printing them??? I also agree about the big red check mark – good idea! If I ask someone to be my friend, where does it show up? Anybody know?
05/17/2007 at 7:19 pm #1874545Regarding the upgrades …
I do NOT see the pictures as “showing” with log entries, they’re a link that you click on, then the picture “fades” the cache page to almost black and shows the photo in the middle. Very cool, but not what others are speaking of.
How does the “Add A Friend” thing work? Does it create like a handy list of people you email via the GC system on a regular basis, or ?????

If you click the add as a friend button, you are prompted to send them a short message through email to add them as a friend.
Once they are added you get a small business card like box with their profile pic, user name, joined date, last visited date, and found and placed stats.
This is a nice feature because it will make contacting people I frequently contact a little bit easier by eliminating the need to search for them.
05/17/2007 at 7:26 pm #1874547I beg to differ with you EnergySaver, 🙂 when I looked at several cache pages today, there were small versions of the pictures on them. You could then click on them and it would go to the fade screen with a bigger one. Unless it has changed since this morning, it was that way. I liked it! Ok, I looked now and it is different – I swear you could see the pictures this morning! Maybe it is a bug they are working on… 🙄 😛
05/17/2007 at 7:57 pm #1874548Yeah, it’s different for me now too. I was getting thumbnail images below the log this morning, now I only get the image title. Could be they won’t load the thumbnail image when the server load is heavier? Just a guess.

Maybe you got something there … I would think that letting all those thumbnails load would really bog things down … cause even if you don’t scroll down the screen to view all the display pictures, they still get downloaded. Actually, if the do offer this feature … I wish there’d be a way of turn it off … I live out in the sticks (no access to cable or DSL), so I’d not be happy get all that extra stuff loading on my 26.6 dial up.
