GC.com new icons

It looks like GC.com has unleashed the new maps and the old ones are no longer accessible. (It also looks like the personalization bugs did not get worked out before release but that is another story)

So all of a sudden (without ever seeing them in beta) I see some new icons on the map. Assuming the map link works correctly, in this view:

you can see what appears to be a multicache with one container (instead of 2) in a circle – but it’s a traditional cache. You can also see a normal multi – also in a circle, plus a multi in a box, plus several traditional in a box.

What the significance of the circle? And why is the traditional cache orange like a multi?

These icons do not appear in the legend to the left I’ve looked for some help but can’t find anything. I already feel like an idiot so no need in pointing out the fact that I am one. This isn’t some new fangled puzzle conjured up by our friends to the east is it 🙂

Wondered something similar as I saw a Mystery cache symbol but the “?” was Yellow and not Blue.

Ahhh…… yes it would seem that the circled caches have that in common! Good call, B! So— looking further at some of my caches it would also appear that Premium caches are rounded AND orange. That seems kind of silly to me – it makes trads look like multis and multis look the same as regular multis – except for the circles. Why not use a different color like purple or something.

I’m confused. The maps are “Beta”, but are the primary map used on the site. Doesn’t that exclude them from “Beta” status?

So when I first used the new maps I could still click on the cache symbol and get the white-quote pop-up to link to the cache page. Now that isn’t working for me. Is it working for other people? I hope so, how could you look at the cache information otherwise?
