Check out this one and weigh in on your thoughts.
As a side note – If one were hidden in a womens bathroom and a man went in to find it he would be drawn and quartered.
However if one were hidden in a mens bathroom and a woman came in to find it, she would be greeted with a round of applause.Go figure – something to do with Venus and Mars?
02/20/2005 at 2:38 am #1748467Thanks once again for the reminder I needed as to why I no longer read the gc.com forums!
Let them have their event… and their $1 beers.

We had this in Wisconsin a few years back,
You had to go onto to your hands and knees in a male changing room at a beach (at Long Lake?) to find a waypoint. Of course, the radius of search put you places nobody wants to be. There were several emphatic logs, from males and females who searched for it that that would be the last of that.
As to the greater issue, IMHO, specific geocaching gatherings should be accepted as much as they are accepted outside geocaching. For example, a ‘whites only’ outing should/could/would not be tolerated. Gender specific associations (clubs, schools) exist for specific reasons in greater society and those reasons may justify a gender specific cache outing.

Two words:
LIGHTEN UP!!!02/20/2005 at 4:24 pm #1748471Actually, I was at an event deep within the flatlander territory where one of the waypoints of a multi was in the outhouse. The reason it was such a great waypoint is that the outhouse was well within sight of the main gathering. We were all able to watch as each cacher determined where the next waypoint was, and the looks on their faces were nothing short of priceless.
As to the topic of discussion, I agree with the idea that there are no rules, only guidelines. I am all for any gathering between people with common interests. If someone wanted to have a nudist only event cache, I doubt many WGA members would attend, but would we feel discriminated against because we would have to be a nudist to attend the event? How about a cigar smoking beer drinkers event cache? If you don’t fit into the group, why would you be offended for not being welcome? Some people just like to raise trouble, it’s that simple. Especially on the geocaching.com forums.

Some people are provokers, and some are thought provokers. (and some people are both.. You know who you are! Is “thought provoking” causing trouble? If so that is pretty scary. Status quo is trouble to me. Is this type of topic why someone wouldn’t read the forums? Hmmmmm… Interesting.
Like it or not, this FORUM is for discussion, my friends. These trouble making topics that people never read sure do get an awful lot of responses!

02/21/2005 at 5:17 am #1748473Oh my, seems I must clarify myself…
After reading through the linked thread and seeing some of the same childish and malicious behaviour present in an otherwise thoughful and worthy arguement, I’d like to say Thanks once again for the reminder I needed as to why I no longer read the gc.com forums!
This too can be a reminder as to the care we need to take with the duality of written word; full of meanings, empty of explanation or intent. I’m hard pressed to ever shy away from expressing or reading an opinion about any topic.
I now return you to your regularily scheduled topic…

02/21/2005 at 11:01 am #1748474Actually I never read the forums on geocaching.com. Someone just emailed me the link to the cache while stating – “What do you think about this”.
The thread is basically – Hey – what do you think about this?
With a little humor thrown in!02/21/2005 at 2:59 pm #1748475This is a coalition, to ban coalitions
I ain’t a politician, but I’ve got views
Some folks want to ban cars
some want to get rid of Fender guitars
Why don’t you do your thing and we do our thing too
Now they want to take my cigarettes and all my good whiskey
And these damn coalitions they’re after you and me
They want to get rid of my .44’s and all the R rated films
If they only knew how much we’d all love to get rid of them
And this is a coalition, to ban coalitions
the views of a musician yeah I’ve got some
Some folks want to ban cars
some want to get rid of electric guitars
Why can’t everybody else leave everybody else alone
Now the latest thing they want to stomp out is violence on TV
And the worst of all is that Oscar winning rabbit Bugs Bunny
Farewell Foghorn Leghorn so long Yosemite Sam
They’re missin’ with our heroes and we got to stop them now
And this is a coalition to ban coalitions…C/O Hank Williams Jr.
