Having just got back from Nevada I have been kinda loving these geo arts that are in the Desert.

There’s a project out there I read about on the MnGA to get a star in all 50 states. In the thread for that discussion, someone mentioned this one, which is about the cutest one I’ve seen.

It’s located in New Hampshire, and because I know someone will ask, here’s one of the caches forming the figure.

I know there’s also a USMC symbol somewhere, a jet and a steam locomotive (the last two in Idaho, I believe).

We’ve completed an alien head, a peace symbol, a smiley face and will hopefully finish one that spells out “The ‘G’ Men.”

Making geo art with the blue ?’s is easy because you don’t actually have to walk the trails. The caches are not actually there.

The more impressive geo arts are the traditional geocaches where you actually have to walk the trails and the caches are actually there on the map.

THAT takes planning and therefore is more impressive to me.

We’re working on the one Black Cat posted. We have found just under 1/4 of them so far. Hoping to make a larger dent this coming weekend. The trick is making all the conversions (which is easy) and converting them all in GSAK ahead of time. Took me about 6 hours to do it. Better short term memory could have cut that time down.

Edited to add…..lousy estimator…we’ve found about 30% of them so far.
There is some really spectacular scenery along the way.

Still VERY impressive because of the time to draft the puzzles also. This could be more time consuming than the traditionals.

A little background on this particular geo art series…..Three cachers were involved in this project. They started placing them and working on the map and cache listings in July. The series was listed a little over a week ago and it took the new Iowa reviewers a couple months to go over them all prior to the “unveiling.” If you take a look at one cache page in the bunch, you can see the level of effort involved. We’ve been having fun with it…but that Snoopy dog in New Hampshire looks like it would be fun, too! So far, for the most part we’ve found the cache ratings are fairly accurate.

I need to go pull a turkey from its brine and start with the side dishes. Happy Thanksgiving!

I was impressed with T & B’s logs on these. They kept the theme going. I stalk certain cachers and that’s how I found these. Hoping to get these next spring.

We were thinking G Men next spring also, hope we can make the group outing date!!

CJ- We did the Indiana trail as a last minute get away weekend- 7hrs of gravel roads during opening weekend of deer hunting down there = a few strange looks.
