What are some of the programs or the best program to create or find the coordinates for making geo-art? I was thinking Base Camp by Garmin but not so sure now.

And, to dovetail on Tom’s question: anything Mac based or web based?

I have no idea – but I did not realize you were from Bruce.  I have a good friend who grew up in the area.  Are you originally from there?

I have lived within a 2 mile radius my whole life. I go a lot of places and meet people originally from Bruce or meet people that know somebody from Bruce because there is nothing to keep anyone here.

I’ve been told by the fellow who’s created some…..Holy Grail and GMen in the Dubuque area…that he drew his desired design to match the scale of the map on his monitor, held it over the screen where wanted the art to go, then proceeded to grab coords for each with something like google earth.  I’ve wanted to do a small one around here myself, but it would probably require puzzles and as it is, very few here bother with our hides anyway.  The puzzles would chase even more away from them.  A lot of work for few finds.  You’re located near the puzzle epicenter of the north, so people up there will have fun with whatever you create.  Good luck.

As I was doing a search I came across this old thread and figured I would post what helped me get started with my geoarts. I hope someday to create a web application to facilitate geoart creations in a much simpler form.
