One of our WGA members was recently the victim of a purse snatching in the Saukville area. It seems the suspects have attacked many individuals and some have been injured during the robberies.
Here is a link to the JS Online article.
The male has been captured in N/E Wisconsin, but the Female suspect is still at large.
I’ve been asked to keep the name of our fellow geocacher confidential. Perhaps we can all help out a little by keeping our eyes open for the remaining suspect.

11/10/2006 at 8:44 pm #1766846Lemme guess… there was a GPS unit in the purse that led the police right to the purse snatchers’ hideout? 🙂 Seriously, wouldn’t it be great if you GPS could automatically turn on and “phone home” its current location if it were lost or stolen…
11/10/2006 at 9:02 pm #1766847Ok, the ending of this should be a movie, but I’m not sure what the rating would me. You MUST read this and then click on the audio interview with the motel owner (green box on the right) ….
Buy_The_Tie – Replaced the long link above.
11/11/2006 at 12:32 am #1766848My mom had concerns about me going out alone caching when I first told her what my new hobby was while on vacation in the UP. She said someone could lure you in the woods and then we would never find you. This was after she thought we would get mauled by bears walking down a trail. I told her possibly we could write a book with her imagination! But seriously, there are some concerns about geocaching alone, so take a dog, carry a cell phone, let someone know where you are going, or find a team to go with.

A couple thoughts …
(1) Maybe add pepper spray to your check list.
(2) Where are you safe? Surely, not in a parking lot … so just live live, yes have a plan, but don’t lock yourself up.
11/12/2006 at 6:49 am #1766851Probably add a whistle or air horn too. You are definitely right, where are you safe? Do not be afraid and enjoy life. That’s just what I had told my mom. That motel owner is just lucky that Mr. Braun wasn’t carrying a weapon or he could have been a victim too. I guess I had read the first response as this woman was geocaching, I didn’t realize she was at a shopping mall. Hope the geocacher is doing ok.
