While clicking around, I discovered this great resource for new cachers and those putting on geocaching 101 events. Pawn of Chaos has a little link on their event listing….
It covers many of the topics that get rehashed often in these forums. Maybe printing out a few of the download brochures and placing them in caches likely to be hit by newcomers, providing them at events and sharing them at those informal events, like Boy Scout presentations, would be helpful.
I know Trekkin’ has been asked to do a session for one of the school groups at his middle school. In the interest of good cache ethics in my own playground, I’m going to suggest he include some of these for the kids’ persual.
Definitely something to read and re-read, and not just for new cachers. We’ve incorporated many of these guidelines into materials we hand out at our presentations, and we include the link to the Geocreed site. Sometimes we even run off the actual brochure to be included. People can put the link on their own cache pages, too, just like the WGA logo.
