Hmmmm…I haven’t been able to get to gc.com all day on any computer on the home network. Anyone else having problems?
Still no problems here. Anything I can get for your in the next 15 minutes?
01/14/2011 at 12:15 pm #1905814It’s either a server or dsl problem because I can connect via my htc phone. Hmmmmmmmmmm….
On the Left Side of the Road...01/14/2011 at 1:24 pm #1905815Ok, I can connect to forums.geocaching.com
I can’t connect to geocaching.com. Same root domain. I get “can’t connect to server.”
I tried rebooting the network and DSL modem, swearing at the computer, and preparing a burnt offering to Bill Gates and Steve Jobs (why take chances). Any other ideas?

“Internet Explorer cannot display the webpage

You are not connected to the Internet.

There might be a typing error in the address. What you can try:

Same error using any of the household PCs so it’s not a computer thing.
It’s not an IE thing because I get the same error on Safari on the iPad or on the Android browser. Clearly a network thing of some sort, but I’m not sure why (obvioulsly or I’d fix it!). And I don’t know how to ask an intelligent question of the DSL provider to blame it on them…

TO troubleshoot: Can you connect your phone via WiFi through your home router?
You <— HTC <— Wireless Forces <—- Router <
Home Provider <
gc.com01/14/2011 at 3:33 pm #1905819Phone browser connect thru data plan: Ya.
Phone broswer connect thru home network: Not so much.Doesn’t matter which of the two wireless routers I use or whether it is ethernet cabled to the main router. So that would lead me to the DSL modem-thingy…
Most bizarre. Time to call the service provider…but why just one site on the whole Interweb? Makes no sense to me.
On the Left Side of the Road...01/14/2011 at 3:40 pm #1905820There’s always the Proxy route to see if you are getting a specific block, e.g. try to go through: (Hope there’s no malware here……)
plug in http://www.geocaching.com and hit go………………..and duck………
01/14/2011 at 3:41 pm #1905821Ok, so since that route works, what does that tell me.
Man, I feel like such a tech noob here. 😳

On the Left Side of the Road...01/14/2011 at 8:43 pm #1905825So you know how you have a problem with your car, that squeak from the back tire you just can’t figure out, and the day you take it into the garage it works fine? I called my provider and, of course, the site access worked again when I was trying to explain the problem. 😳
Must’ve been that last goat I sacrificed.
On the Left Side of the Road...02/01/2011 at 7:37 pm #1905826I wonder if we’re getting any new toys this time…
