Maybe just for today, people who planted caches can stand out by them, wait for geocachers to come by, and tell them whether they are “hot” or “cold” as they walk around the area looking for it…? 🙂

Reading the articles, it appears this was just a small fire that knocked out power to the data center. I’m sure the gc.com servers and the data are OK, so there is no need to panic… armageddon is not here (yet). 😀

Here is an article with a photo of people carrying server equipment out of the building:

Thanks for the voice of reason resident WGA comp wizard 😉 . The servers weren’t damaged, so while it will be an incredible hassle for Mssr. Irish ERM… Scratch that!!! GC.COM IS BACK. W00T!

Loading slow, but I accessed our profile and all is good. Logged out to make room for the million other users. Can a company’s own users create a Denial of Access attack 😉 ?

They’re not telling you the full truth perhaps to prevent getting overwhelmed. ❗ I received my query, spun it, and getting ready to head out on the bike. 😀

May everyone enjoy their July 4th!

Doing my normal browse of Google News, and this one popped up in the tech section:
        http://www.datacenterknowledge.com/archives/2009/07/03/major-outage-at-seattle-data-center/

Very interesting read, and links to loads of other information.

After all this, we’re suddenly feeling a lot better about having had to work all day yesterday and today.
