I’m just throwing this out as an idea. I just attended the eBay Live convention in New Orleans this past weekend. Yes, eBay has grown so large over the past few years that they now have their own convention! They had classroom sessions for learning how to use the website better, had an expo hall for vendors, an eBay store, plus had gatherings and door prizes. There even was a wedding there. eBay users from all over the world attended.
So the light bulb went on and I had a thought. With geocaching being a rapidly growing activity, will there ever be a possibility of geocaching.com and Groundspeak putting on a yearly convention? What do you think? We meet other cachers at local events, but quite a few of us also cache out of state and it would be neat to meet cachers from all over. Just think, there could be sessions on geocaching for beginners and the more advanced, advanced uses of the GPS system, travel bugs, hiding and maintaining caches, bizarre geocaching stories, etc. There could be vendors, such as Garmin, Magellan, and other companies in the expo hall. There could be prizes and a geocaching store. The convention could be a new type of cache find. I’m sure if this were to become a reality, that cachers from all over would flock to it.
Just throwing this out for discussion. I might put this topic on the geocaching message boards too. I wonder if this has ever been discussed. Your thoughts please.

WGA Board: Have the admins/ Groundspeak people ever discussed something like this?
It would be quite the sight to see 3000? geocachers converge on say, Chicago, or (name your large city here).

This list is not meant to discourage your idea, but rather to give you a reference base for pursuing it. http://forums.groundspeak.com/GC/index.php?showtopic=69906&hl= http://forums.groundspeak.com/GC/index.php?showtopic=64161&hl= http://forums.groundspeak.com/GC/index.php?showtopic=64022&hl= http://forums.groundspeak.com/GC/index.php?showtopic=60255&hl= http://forums.groundspeak.com/GC/index.php?showtopic=55439&hl= http://forums.groundspeak.com/GC/index.php?showtopic=30870&hl= http://forums.groundspeak.com/GC/index.php?showtopic=38046&hl= http://forums.groundspeak.com/GC/index.php?showtopic=53051&hl= http://forums.groundspeak.com/GC/index.php?showtopic=57767&hl=
