It takes effort to apply a favorite. Most knuckleheads are also inherently lazy. So I am hopeful.
On the Left Side of the Road...12/22/2010 at 8:02 pm #1940682I was originally a skeptic (I know go figure), but decided to at least take a look at it. I’d say I’m warming up to the idea and think it does in fact have some merit. I’m starting by going through my “Favorites Watch List” and adding those. After that? We’ll see, but I can see 10% being fair (contrary to popular opinion). Originally I was in the camp of 10% being too high, but after further review I think it might be on target. My reasoning is that this gives you the opportunity (not requirement) to identify the top 10% ONLY of your most like caches. With over 333 puzzles if I used all of my 100 favorites I’d have to rule out 2/3 of them which could be tough by itself. Then through out a couple more for caches like KVR – HiLo and it starts to fall into place.
This is a bit different though if you like things like the ET highway where 100 of the 1000 could be your favorites.

It is interesting to see how this is shaping up so far. What I see being favorited is:
What I don’t see much of:b. Extremely difficult puzzles
Trying to change that. 😀

I second this motion.
12/22/2010 at 10:19 pm #1940685Most of my Favs so far HAVE been puzzles, both difficult and not so difficult but all memorable. Odd that they’ve turned out that was so far.

12/22/2010 at 10:23 pm #1940686One other thing I have found. If you do a cache search of any type (except previewing a PQ apparently), then click on the blue ribbon at the top of the grid, it will sort your search by the number of favorite votes. So, if you just search by the state of Wisconsin, you will find that the most favorited cache (at least when I looked) was Dr. Evermore. You can do this by country or center point and radius or whatever.
12/22/2010 at 10:41 pm #1940687Blacks Ravine for the Earthcache selection? Picked all of mine yesterday. Just guessing on this one. I picked a few from each type of cache.

My .02 cents x 287 = $5.74 Now do I charge for shipping or a service fee?
Zuma can get almost $28 bucks for his….where oh where will we spend all this geoincome?
I suppose I could get something for Christmas for my wife?

I think I’ll have to PAF to see which favorites to pick. 😆 😆 😆

12/23/2010 at 4:25 pm #1940691I think we should have negative favorite points to negate favorite votes on guardrails. 🙂

There’s a thought that I may actually agree with, have the option to put favorites in a dislike counter.

And caches that go negative are automatically archived. Commence favorite points war!!
I have not chimed in on this subject but think the favorites are fine. I like that we can see who favorited (making up words) the caches.
I tossed around many of my points but did not use them all. I think I’ll keep them rather than put them up for sale. I would trade them for geocoins though 😉
One good improvement would be adding the ability to mark a favorite when you log a find. One-stop-shop.
