thanks,

02/26/2007 at 11:30 pm #1766713We are really trying to get info… but the people putting this on do not seem to be very organized and nor good at communicating what is happening. We did e-mail them asking for more info and how we could help, asked them about getting the info up here at this site etc.
All we know for sure is that they should have 18 caches approved for the 1st of March that will have punches in. If you punch something (we have not heard where or how to get a booklet to punch) and get at least 12 of the cache punches you can turn them in and get a t-shirt and entered into drawings.
We assume you can go to any of the three chambers and hopefully get more info. We did see that the Boulder Junction Chamber started a web page but it just links to geocaching.com so wasn’t very helpful.
We keep trying to help…..
Mrs. TE02/26/2007 at 11:48 pm #1766714I also emailed the people dispersing “the official word”, asking them to post info on their website, so that we’re all ready to go find these caches this weekend.
I didn’t get a response, and the website hasn’t changed.
02/27/2007 at 3:04 am #1766715If interested, drop me an Email. I believe your CVB contacted the CHippewa CVB on how to get the grant. The Chippewa CVB got a “trailblazer” award for this thing and I thing the folks at both places have been talking… [email protected]

This thing is starting on Thursday? Is this a snowmobile caching event?
Seriously, who is placing these caches? I guess I thought you guys and Team Outcast were placing these.
02/27/2007 at 10:44 am #1766717I sure hope the chamber isn’t doing it themselves or we may have Light Brites on bridges. 😉
02/27/2007 at 2:41 pm #1766718Yes we helped put the Rhinelander ones out… 2_stand, rsplash40 and us..
I believe that Rockheadfamily helped with some of the Sayner/St. Germain ones.
Not sure who helped with Boulder Junction.
Really think all the caches are going to be good quality caches as they seem to understand that part…. it is the prize, passport etc. kind of stuff that is out of our hands that we are not sure about.
Plus there are a lot of really nice caches up here that have nothing to do with the “event” so it will be well worth the trip.
I would suggest that anyone that comes for it mention at any store, motel or gas station that you stop at that you are geocaching and you may be eligible for some type of discounts. You could go to any of the 3 chambers first and they should be able to tell you more…. we hope 🙄
Also bring some type of paper to “Punch” in case they don’t have the booklets out to punch so you can prove that you found them. Also all of them should be approved as long as they have all met the guidelines so you will at least get a smiley for each one. Guess what I am trying to say is don’t let their disorganization stop you from coming to our beautiful area as there are some great caches to be found….
Mrs. TE02/27/2007 at 11:18 pm #1766719I just got home and found an email concerning the info posting. She had been out of the office for a few days. It seems that she understood our intent to be that we post the game info when the caches are released on the 1st of March. She has collected and created the info. It should be at http://www.northwoodsgeocaching.com/ on the 1st.
02/28/2007 at 6:04 pm #1766720Regarding the Cache card for the contest caches… the link on the previously mentioned web page does not work. Do you think you can contact whom ever sent you the information and let them know? I would like to have the cache card in hand in order to plan our trip this weekend.
On second thought… maybe I should wait until the 1st to see if it is available then.
Thanks.
02/28/2007 at 9:36 pm #1766721Hmmm, looking at the prizes, it looks like they get better as you go down the list, i.e. 4th place looks better than 1st. Oh well, not planning on winning anyway!
