We have had a request for help for someone to offer to run a “Geocaching” module of a Science Olympiad in Madison on Jan 18th.
From Van Valasky:
I am looking for someone that would be will to run “geocaching” for me at a science olympiad event on Jan 18. High school students are competing in 28 events on that day and “Geocaching is one of them. THE COMPETITION is as follows:
1. Participants will be given a sequence of waypoints to follow to the finishing location.
2. At each waypoint participants will obtain proof that they visited that location by answering questions related to the waypoint.
3. Participants will also be responsible for answering questions about GPS navigation in general and on a specific topic in cartography. Maps may be provided.
The 2013-2014 topic is Water and its influence on the landscape.
5. SCORING: Each correct waypoint successfully obtained in the proper sequence will be awarded an assigned value. Each correct response to the waypoint questions will also be awarded an assigned value. Highest score wins, and you would determine any tiebreakers.

The time commitment would be writing a series of questions for each waypoint. Setting up the course. Running the event on Saturday, Jan 14 from 8:15am to 2:30pm.
