Today we picked up a couple of local tourist info brochures and while looking thru them we see that geocaching is mentioned in them.
The Portage 2008 community visitors guide has a paragragh about caching and suggests looking in Pauquette Park and also along the levee park for some. And it suggests for more info on geocaching to call Doug Klapper at (home phone number listed) or go to geocaching.com and wi-geocaching.com.
Also in the Explore Wisconsin 51 brochure under Waushara County it mentions caching and to stop at the Coloma Hotel lobby to find out more about it.
We were kinda curious what cacher works at the hotel and who Doug is?
Check the profile for geocachers named “Coloma Hotel”. They list themselves as owners. I would assume they are the ones mentioned on the cache page for GC1CCMG.
I guess I should be more up on our local elected goverment officials because Doug Klapper is one of Portage’s City Council men. But I wonder if he is an active cacher?
