Just caught a little ad for the Fox 6 (Milwaukee) news at 9:00. Looks like they’re going to do a segment on geocaching (tonight?)
Who are we going to see……..?

You’re probably going to see Johnny Cache & the Cache Crusaders. Fox 6 was following them around at the Waukesha Janboree event two weekends ago.
02/02/2006 at 6:01 pm #1738676You may also see AuntieNae, The Tapps and Gr8Eyes. I remember seeing AuntieNae being interviewed at the registration table. In regards to my family, we were never interviewed. They just wanted to follow us around to a couple of caches. My brother, AAHAAE, and his daughter were with us as well. At that time, we weren’t sure if it was a story on geocaching, the Waukesha Winter Janboree or some combination.
I hope this wasn’t the only video they took for doing a geocaching story. These were not traditional caches. They were temporary caches set up for the event, which coincided with the Janboree where local businesses participated. The cache hides were inside the stores. I told the reporter this and offered to show them a traditional hide. It sounded like they had to be somewhere else and didn’t have the time. She mentioned that they were going to be at T-Rex for the mid-day registration, but I’m not sure if they ever made it.
We’ll have to watch and see if any of the kids were caught on tape fighting over swag. LOL
02/02/2006 at 8:04 pm #1738677Yes, I did a 7 minute interview at JanBoree while we were checking people in for the event.
And, I was contacted earlier this week to expand the footage shot at the event to include more traditional geocaching. I have an interview at our Greenfield Konkel Park tomorrow morning.
The Ecorangers will be meeting them tomorrow afternoon in West Bend.
Can someone tape the news for us?
02/02/2006 at 8:41 pm #1738678The promo actual shows one of the reporters in the woods with a GPSr. So it does look like someone’s done a little advance research. I’m really looking forward to the segment!

02/02/2006 at 8:54 pm #1738679Should be good.
They are really playing the teezer spot alot!
I’ve seen it 8 or 9 times in the last 2 evenings.I kinda like them calling it “high tech hide and seek” … while it’s not accurate, it’s less like to raise concerns than “high tech treasure hunt”.
HOWEVER, it would be good to impress upon the reports, that when someone finds the cache, they do NOT move it to another spot, a lot of people don’t understand that. The hide part of “hide and seek” might imply that the first time geocaching-rookie needs to do some hiding.

02/03/2006 at 7:16 pm #1738680Fox6 news Monday 9 PM is confirmed
I spent about 2 hours this morning with Brad Hicks at Konkel Park. I felt he has a good understanding what geocaching is from the questions asked.
He was on his way to REI to learn about different GPSreceivers this afternoon.

It better be confirmed!
Brad only shouted in my face about 15 times so far.02/04/2006 at 1:20 am #1738682Poor cameraman, carrying around a 30 pound camera. He was huffing and puffing. He kept telling us to slow down and wait (smiles). He did manage to film us finding 4 caches in just little over one hour. With all the footage they shot from the Janboree, AuntieNae this mornintg, REI and us, they are cutting it down to a 4 minute geocaching segment. Tami
