I am interested in taking my department on a “geocaching expedition” in the Sheboygan area. Does anybody have any recommendations on how I could go about doing this? None of us have ever participated in geocaching before, but we are excited about trying it out. Thanks so much!
05/25/2005 at 3:25 pm #1749651I’ve got about 5 families “waiting in line” to go out for the first time … otherwise I’d help you out. Sorry.
BUT, for others … I suspect it would be nice to know what you mean by “your department”. I assume your talking about a group from work.
Please answer things like:
So, how many people would that be in total? Do any of you own a GPS receiver?
When do you want to do this (weekend)?[This message has been edited by EnergySaver (edited 05-25-2005).]

Here is some additonal information:
So, how many people would that be in total?
We have a group of 10 people. We are trying to find a “team building” activity.Do any of you own a GPS receiver?
No- we would be interested in renting. When do you want to do this (weekend)?
We would be intereseted in doing it on Thursday, July 7th in the afternoon.

Anybody else out there interested/available then?
05/25/2005 at 4:33 pm #1749654I am from the Kohler area. I would be willing to help you an this. The only problem I have is that I work second shift. But put that aside for a while, there can be alot to due before then that I would be willing to help with. It all depends on what you are looking for. So what kind of experence are you looking for? Example you looking at problem solving, the adventure, reading maps, using compases, or just getting out for a quick hunt and find. I am shur that I could help you get started on your way. Just give me a note here.
05/25/2005 at 4:33 pm #1749655Are there any organizations dedicated to geocaching and setting up “geocaching expeditions”? Or is it mostly private individuals that you team up with to organize?
05/25/2005 at 4:34 pm #1749656We are looking for “team building activity” and my supervisor had read something about geocaching and suggested I look into what is available in the area. What would you suggest?
05/25/2005 at 4:47 pm #1749657Ok, as far as I know, which is very limited, I do not know of any groups that organize outings. It would be a few individules that would volunteer their help. Which is why I would like to help. Now for the team building that I would be able to help get a few ideas going. I could see a group of people without a GPSr with the problem of finding a cache. The challenge would start by making a list of things that they would need to accomplish the task. I will make a jump here that you work for the Kohler Co. I know of three find close by the plant that would be great to get started. What is your take of this?
05/25/2005 at 4:52 pm #1749658I also could plant a few just for your use and pull them up again after you are done. The problem I have there is where to put them. If you do work for a bigger company there might be land that they own that we could use? Just a few ideas to throw out there.

What would you suggest?Interesting that you asked this … as this is basically a “hobby”, “sport”, “family thing” to do … BUT there is an Advertiser link on the home page of the geocaching page to something called “Geo Teaming”, which seems to be a company or something that I assume sells their services for just what your trying to do … ie. Corporate Training … check out the web link at: http://www.playtimeinc.com/products_geoteaming.htm
05/25/2005 at 4:58 pm #1749660Now if your desiring to simply expose yourself to geocaching on a basic “what’s it like basis” .. you may want to consider coming to my “rookie” training event on June 6th, 2pm at Harrington Beach in Belgium (just south of you by 20 to 30 minutes). HOWEVER, it’s open to the whole public, so you will be “part of the crowd” and will be expose to geocaching as part of a “tour”, which is not the same as “team building” and working together in any way. I’m off in the afternoon on the 7th. I could help if you need. I have participated in the Team Building STUFF numerous times, in the past. In fact… doing that in the morning on 6/7. I might actually get good at it! LOL E-mail me if I can help in some way. I might be able to think of a few ways to do teamwork with this. I will be avalable in the afternoon. My session runs from 0730-1000.. a refresher course. I am in TR/Manitowoc.
