A pity that WTMJ will not give us permission to use the segment with Cachecows and team Socko. A couple thoughts about that. Anyone interested and able to make our own? Do we communicate with other state associations that we might make a collective effort? I still like the idea of a short message showing the positive side of geocaching and economic impact it makes. Something to distribute to aldermen, county reps, state reps, senators, the sheriff and so on. Maybe delivered to them personally along with a sample cache.

We’re getting a meeting set up with the DNR, so we should be able to make some good progress at least as far as state-managed land.
As far as economic impact, that argument would not mean much to officials who are entrusted to look after public lands. They’re government employees. They care more about protecting the land and fulfilling their jobs than economic issues, and rightly so. If we want to appeal to their issues, we have to talk about the benefits for visitors, for the parks, for the parks officials, and about the environmental impact.

LeeLansinger has offered their video editing/production services to help us out. If we work with them and some area cachers, we could probably easily produce enough footage that LeeLansinger could create 2 or 3 different versions of a promotional video. One that focuses on environmentalism, one that focuses on health/sports, one that focuses on tourism/recreation, one on family/social aspects. Then we could take Steve’s idea and just deliver the tape best suited for each person/organization.
We could develop rough scrips for each version, then do all the taping at once. Really, the only difference between each version would be what questions/topics were included in each final version.
Any comments?
