Starting October 6, join The Weyenberg Library of Mequon-Thiensville for an exciting activity that combines beautiful Wisconsin nature, local history and new technology with the Frank L. Weyenberg Library’s Geocaching event, brought to you by North Shore Bank’s Mequon branch!
Go on a real life treasure hunt to find virtual caches at historic locations around Mequon and Thiensville using a GPS-equipped mobile device. If you don’t have one, you can check out a GPS device at the Library. Find all the caches for a chance to win fantastic prizes, including a one night stay with 4 water park passes at the Chula Vista Resort in the Wisconsin Dells! Passports with cache locations are available starting October 6 at the Library or at North Shore Bank’s Mequon branch, 10806 N. Port Washington Road.
Never heard of Geocaching or used a GPS device before? Attend the Kickoff Event at the Library on October 6 from 3:30 to 6:30pm to win prizes and learn more about Geocaching. Kids can color and meet Seymour Savings! At 5:00, Jim Hyatt, an educator at the Schlitz Audubon Nature Center, introduces you to Geocaching and using a GPS unit.
Completed passports must be returned either to the Library or North Shore Bank’s Mequon branch by October 17 to be eligible for the prize drawing. On October 18th, the event concludes with a walking tour of historic Mequon and Thiensville. After that, hear Ed Janus, author of Creating Dairyland, talk about Wisconsin history at 4:00, immediately followed by the Grand Prize Drawing.
