Just a quick heads up to be aware of ticks from now on. I cached Waukesha Parks 6 & 7 today and while I was logging them at home, I had a itch on my neck. Scratching it, I felt a bump. Sure enough I had a wood tick crawling on me. The tick had not dug in yet, so I was able to kill it easily.

I know we had a thread about this last year, but with all the new cachers since then I thought it would be good to refresh. Did anyone have luck with any bug sprays last year?

Anything with DEET seems to be the way to go. When I soak myself with Deep Woods OFF (green can) I have had no ticks. Remember last year’s campout? It was too cool for the mosquitos to be bad, so most of us didn’t use anything. I don’t think anyone got through the campout without picking off several ticks. Last year had perfect weather conditions for the ticks. One bushwack through the Kettle Moraine, I seem to remember finding at least 25 on me, but got them all off before any really got me. After that, I stocked up on the DEET.
