MemberThe Potawatomi Area Council, BSA will be having an Expo at WCTC in Pewaukee on May 1st. It will start in the morning with a breakfast for all Eagle Scouts and have all kinds of Scouting demonstrations during the day. I have been asked to run a Geocaching demonstration at the event. If you are willing to give me a hand send me an e-mail.

MemberThis is an expo to make the general public aware of Scouting activities. We will be maning a booth just outside the entrance to the gym and will have several temporary hides and possibly some permanent ones available for people to find. The event runs from 9 AM until 3 PM on May 1st at the Waukesha County Technical College in Pewaukee. They are expecting 1 to 3 thousand people to attend. If you can help for even part of the day let me know.

MemberI would be willing to man the booth for a time being if you still need some help it also depends on if I find job by then. ๐ Being that I am a fellow Eagle Scout and a Geocacher and a proud member of the WGA I can help out as much as i possible can. Just let me know what i can do to help.

MemberThanks to a team of 8 that placed 11 caches on the WCTC campus yesterday. They are to be published Friday, April 30 after 7 PM. These will all be permanent caches. I was unable to get this listed as an event, because there is also a Scout event there. There will be a Geocaching booth and several temporary hides for the youth to find. The Scout Festival will be from 9 AM until 3 PM. If you can help please stop by. All help will be appreciated.

MemberI stopped by the event today and found the perms…not many things in geocaching beats the hunt with the smell of a campfire in the air. Thanks to all who helped at the scouting event. I always love to see new folks in the game….I visited the booth briefly to say hello to one of the WGAs most prolific and modest volunteers. ๐

MemberA belated thanks to the WGA members who helped out at this event last weekend. This includes pharmteam (Lucien did the lion’s share of the work planning and executing this event), kmhiker, nohandsgps, Scrappy Scout, and jvechinski (and others I am probably forgetting). Also thanks to those who were there earlier and hid the new permanent caches on the WCTC campus, which gave the volunteers something to find during breaks in the action. ๐
We estimate that around 200 scouts of all ages picked up a GPS and tried to find at least one of the six temporary caches that were hidden. Iรขโฌโขm sure we added a few more families to the geocaching fold, as a few of them were really into the activity, found all six caches and wanted to do even more.
Many more scouts (and their parents) stopped and looked at our display, picked up a brochure, and asked questions. Quite a few were already familiar with geocaching, and some had already done or planned to do it with their troop / pack. Interest in geocaching was high due to the imminent availability of a geocaching merit badge.
In addition to teaching the scouts about geocaching, we also branched out into sausages later in the day:
A few more photos taken at the event can be found in the album below… if you have any more, please upload them (the album is public).
