I’ve been asked to do a presentation for a Lunch and Learn where I work. I was wondering if anyone out there has done that sort of a presentation and if they have any advice. First, I need to know if I can fill 45 minutes. Second, what kind of materials did you use (ie powerpoint presentation, ammo boxes, GPSr, etc.)
We are giving a 1 hour (at least that’s the time we’ve been allowed) presentation this Saturday in Appleton. We are still fine tuning the materials and slide show (PowerPoint), but if you need more info, email us via our profile page.

It’s pretty easy to fill 45 minutes to an hour with info on geocaching. There are some good power point presentation available here on the web site at:

I do a little power point (adpated from the above mentioned link) interspersed with “visual aids” that people can touch and check out. I like to use a nice assortment of cache containers, as well as a fully loaded, ready to go cache for people to explore. I like to bring along a few GPS units, as well as a travel bug and a geocoin.
Talk about your own personal experiences and tell them why YOU geocache. The more personal the talk, the better it will be received. Know your audience beforehand and tailor your tone to that group.
Most of all, don’t worry — you’re fondness for geocaching will shine through. You have lots of questions, and at least a few newbies as a result!!

I also like to use the tri-fold brochure from Geocacher-U
I make a bunch of copies and have them available for attendees to take home. Be sure to put either your email address on the back or the Wisconsin Geocaching Association website on the back (or both!)
Bec, again
Thanks everybody. This is really useful!
