Many of you know Rick Anderson (geolivestrong) of Wautoma in central Wisconsin. Rick has not been as active in the caching world in recent months because he has discovered many other interests (yes, there ARE some besides caching!), such as marathon and triathlon training and racing, and a renewed desire to do hands-on EMT work.

Rick recently had unrelated emergency surgery during which it was discovered that he had aggressive non-Hodgkins lymphoma. After healing from the surgery, he is now tackling the cancer head-on, and is currently in UW-Hospital in Madison this week for an intense round of chemotherapy. He has a great spirit and fantastic support, and I have asked him if I could share his story here.

You can check out all that is going on in Rick’s fight against cancer by reading his blog at: http://krickincancer.wordpress.com/

If you would like to send Rick a personal note, you can use this email address of his: [email protected]

Cancer chose the wrong guy when it decided to pick a fight with Rick!

      Live strong, geolivestrong!

HOLY CRAP. I just read the entire post start to finish and had a hard time believing it.

Rick definately has the right attitude and what an inspiration for the rest of us.

If writing a blog is therapy, he will be cured in no time! Wow, such strength in such adversity. Livestrong, Rick!

Thanks for sharing the info …I wondered why Rick had archived many of the Washara-area caches… though it has been a while since I’ve cached in that area since my Mom had moved back to SE WI.

I had asked Rick about the Waushara archiving and his condition was not why they were archived. He was looking to open the spots for new caches and said he would be putting a few out once in awhile. That was before his current diagnosis.

Rock On Rick! Kick that cancer. you have our well wishes and prayers.

I want to thank everyone who have sent me messages through gc.com, e-mail, etc. The support I have as I fight hard against lymphoma is both overwhelming and crucial. The geocaching community is still an important part of my life even though I have more recently focused on other things. I hope to be able to see many of you again in the near future. I will have to watch the events and see if I can’t make it to one on a day when my strength allows it. In the meantime keep on cachin’ and stay safe!

          Rick (geolivestrong)
