Geosticker ideas/comments??

Looking for comments/suggestions/changes regarding design and content..

This is a preliminary design which when completed will hopefully be made available(for a very small fee) to anyone interested in sticking one on their cache containers in hopes to better identify them in the field…

They should be made of some kind of durable vinyl, and waterproof in every possible way..

The thought is two versions: A 3″ x 5″ for bigger contianers and possibly a smaller one for micros like a film canister..

Open for suggestions!!

Flushingrouse presented this idea to the me a few months ago and I think it’s a great idea! The Board has been giving some input on it’s content.

I think it would be great if we could have a sticker with some local flare. The stickers you can buy from GC.com are nice, but pretty generic. I think it would be good to have a sticker which has more information on it. This could help eliminate some of the suspicious package/bomb scare type calls.

Originally Bill had our logos on it. The Board thought we should eliminate the logos. This would help isolate the WGA from any geocaches that turn up in bad areas. We don’t want it to look like the WGA is responsible for hiding the geocache there. Likewise, I’m not sure if Jeremy would allow us to sell stickers with his logo on it. Especially since he is selling them already.

Bill has a contact that could help make the stickers for a very reasonable fee. We just need to see what type of design we, and content we want on it.

I like the idea of including a description of the basic contents, Contact info, etc. There are lots of possibilities. What other ideas can the rest of you come up with. It would be fun to give it some Wisconsin flare

Grousetales, good additional information and comments. Regarding “Wisconsin Local Flare” … maybe a logo, just not the WGA logo … maybe some new logo that just ties Wisconsin and geocaching together, for the purpose of these stickers (and other potential stuff like buttons or something) … like a cow holding a GPSr, while looking into an ammo box that looks like cheese; or something like that, with a saying like “enjoy Wisconsin, enjoy geocaching”.

Ok, I’ve put a lot of thought into this … since cows don’t have hands, they’d have to go with the Garmin Fortrex with the neck strap upgrade. Tough to read the display, but cows don’t go for the caches over 2-stars anyway.

Anyone interested? The lack of responses leads me to believe no.. And that’s fine..

Main objective is to have something that people would recognize as non-hostile.. One of my biggest worries is that a Wisconsin container gets viewed as a threat and the bomb-squad gets called… Can you imagine the enormous “black eye” this puts on geocaching??

We like the idea of a sticker, we just aren’t very creative people. We’re not the type to design things (they’d all be basic boxes with just some colors and no pictures) so we didn’t add our input hoping others would. We like the idea of a sticker, though, and would be interested in incorporating those onto our caches.

Maybe spruce it up with a picture of a Miata?…..or not. Sorry, must have been the 1.5 beers talking. Keep it simple and semi camo colored. Not sure about the “aproved by” line. I agree that the WGA logo shouldn’t be on it…..I think that was in this thread.

The idea of having one of my ammo boxes blown up by the bomb squad is chilling. I have pulled them all back except one.
