On our personal TE business card we have both the WGA and Geocaching addresses along with our own, we hand these out frequently.
TEMy text did not move at all Anne. I did not do anything different than what the link told me so I don’t know why it worked for me.
I love the idea of the business cards! I was just talking to someone last night who had a lot of interest in the WGA. It would have been great to give them a card instead of just scratching down the web address on the back of an old napkin!!
I also like the idea of stickers for cars, campers, trucks, caches, whatever.

The WGA membership waivers around the 840 range. I am quite positive there are many more cachers in the state, and that many do not know of the WGA.
Is there an incentive to talk about the WGA with them? What about a short handout that can be given to them? Something else?
Marc: When I got home from our day of caching I sent her a personal email with the WGA link attached. I invited her to come and check out the WGA site. I am happy to say that as of today she is a new member.

Just wondering if there was a way to make the WGA logo and directions on how to paste it a little more prominent on the website??? I now know it’s under wiki.
It’s probably just fine where it’s at but I was someone who hasn’t been using the logo on their cache pages because I simply didn’t know how to do it or where to find it. Of course I could’ve asked, but I’m a guy and asking for directions just isn’t in my genes! I’m wondering if there’s others out there like me who simply don’t know how!

I agree with jenhen. I haven’t hidden any caches yet, but when the wiki was mentioned, I had a doozy of a time trying to find it there. I think it would be helpful to put the instructions as a suggestion under the “Hiding a Cache” section, perhaps as part of a helpful “setting up your cache page” section there.
I try to send a short note to anyone who hits one of our caches. If I notice that they are a rookie, I welcome them to the sport, and I also put in a plug for the WGA. I have not kept track, but I know at least a few of these folks have showed up as WGA members soon after.

I think this is a great and inexpensive way to promote the WGA. I would be happy to carry some with me and pass out when needed. I know of several instances this year where I could have done that including an event that I hosted that had several non-WGA members in attendance.
Maybe make these business cards into stickers and apply them to the insides of geocaches or put them on logbooks. They’re sure to be seen by non members.

Since allot of WGA members have the logo/link on their cache page, I would think after having 200 finds you would have noticed this by now, guess that proves most people don’t actually read the whole cache page. 😉

Or maybe this is a side-effect of “paperless” caching. I know I see none of the links when I use my iPod to view cache pages, although I usually DO see the page on my computer when logging. But I am betting that “paperless” caching reduces the exposure of WGA links.
Handing out cards on the trail? Excellent, but very spotty.
WGA materials in a cache? Great, but the prominence of micro caches means, well, not much room for WGA swag, if anyone is even looking.
You want to make sure people are aware of WGA? seems to me that that the only good, fun way would be a series of puzzle caches that required the hunter to solve puzzles that require a visit to the WGA website for answers. Something like that.
How about COTM nominations?? Now I know that all nominations end up on a bookmark list, but what if the WGA post a note on the cache page of a nominated caches with a link to the WGA, stating that their cache has been nominated for COTM. Not only would you reach that cacher but anyone who might be watching a cache and the note would also show up on logs for paperless cachers too. There is a serise of caches up in rual Barnes/Eau Claire Lakes area(For The Birds). I plan on nomminating it for COTM. The cacher who put them put knew nothing of the WGA. I told her and her friends to look it up when I ran into them. They actually asked me if belonging to the WGA that would give people info on new caches before they where published cuz they could not figure out how Psssing Wind wind was getting all his FTF’s. They thought he was a Reviewer.
Just a idea to ponder.
