How do my 5 yr old and I get started. What do we need and where do we go.
That’s a bit of a wide open question, so let’s help you out and narrow things down a bit. Hopefully we can get you pointed in the right direction and/or get you paired up with one of our members for a first run.
1) What area of the state are you in?
2) Do you have a GPSr of any kind (car, handheld, smartphone, etc.)
The International Visitor Center between Horicon and Mayville is hosting a Geocaching 101 on Wednesday, April 6th, at 7 PM.
It is an intro to geocaching. There will be no GPS unit instruction, other than basics, as each GPS owner should learn to use their own GPS unit, since there are many different models.
But basic caching will be the focus, and it is geared toward the new cachers, especially families. Shouldn’t last more than 1 hour, as kids get restless. A geocaching DVD on the big screen will be the main event, with a simple handout to take home, and time for questions and answers.
