For the picnic date only, I am going to be making the multi-cache that I have in Lapham Peak open for multiple “found-it” posts.
There are 7 waypoints, and at 6 of them, there will be a log book. I will allow one “found it” log for each logbook of the multi that was signed.
The logbooks are not going to be added until RIGHT before the event, so early logging won’t work.
If anyone sees an issue with this – like according to the geo-gods, I’m not allowed to do this, please let me know.
07/08/2008 at 8:36 pm #1891890That is very nice of you. That should provide a little more incentive for folks to visit. I’m hoping to get a couple of new caches placed there in the not so distant future and I have heard roomers of an EarthCache there as well…I sure hope that plan is still in place as I’d love to see some EC noobs get introduced into Earthcaching.
07/09/2008 at 3:22 am #1891891Why not just open it up and let everyone log the temps they find at the event on your multicache.
07/09/2008 at 9:52 am #1891892Thanks to hoppe2findyou for providing me with information on the first few waypoints of her multi so I could get some caches planted in the park (I know a cache near me I haven’t yet found? I’m in a bit of a local cache slump).
OK I got off my butt and placed two new caches there yesterday and plan to place one more for sure and possibly two…I’m thinking a short three or four cache mini-power trail would be nice to have, what with gas prices and all scoring a few easy ones would be nice. Plus the one cache I have not yet placed is going to be a puzzle which I have a rough location plotted out…but high water (and laziness) has kept me from getting it placed.

LOL..OK my power trail consists of two caches….it has a start and a finish. 😉
07/09/2008 at 9:51 pm #1891895OK, this is not an attempt to steal this thread, but what is the “Reviewer” definition of a power trail, why would a reviewer have a problem with the caches if they follow GC.com guide lines?
With $4.00 a gallon gas, I’m looking at game trails/logging roads to put 3-4 caches on. The trail/roads are about 2-3 miles long in one direction thou.(PW, don’t pay any attention to what I just wrote….. 😉 🙄 )

I think this is a great idea. This is an excellent multicache, and each of the stages are definitely substantial enough and “worthy” to stand on their own. I remember hikes over a quarter mile between some of the stages and a few up and down sections (though nothing like at Gov. Dodge), so folks will earn the extra smileys.
The only question is, are people going to remember to listen to the radio program to get the coordinates to waypoint 1 before coming to the picnic? If they don’t do this they are sunk…
07/10/2008 at 12:41 am #1891897good point – I’ll put a message on the cache page for that too, along with the message I already have on there about logging it more than once.
I’m glad you mentioned that. I think I’ll listen to dad right now….

Radio program to get coordinates? Camp out or picnic? Did I miss something here?

The coords are for hoppe2finds cache which is located at Lapham Peak.

Oops, that would be the picnic, not the campout. 😳 The cache being discussed, GC1476E, is a mystery/puzzle multicache which requires you do a bit of homework to get the coordinates for the first waypoint… people would have to do this before arriving at the picnic.

After the hours I’ve spent last weekand trying to solve a puzzle, to no avail I might add, I have really learned to hate research. Congrats to hoppe2findyou though for being FTF on it. I guess I will take a look at the one mentioned above. Maybe I will fare a bit better. Thank you for thr information.
07/10/2008 at 12:58 pm #1891903Since reading this thread yesterday I have been considering if/how to reply and in the end decided another opinion needed to be voiced.
We have done the geocache and I agree with Jeremy that it is an excellent multi but I don’t agree that for one day the finders should be able to get a “found it” for each waypoint. If teams don’t want to do it as a multi, it is their loss. I just don’t think it is necessary to change multi’s into individual caches just to give extra smiley’s or incentives to do the cache.
