    Hello all,

Just want to encourage anyone from the Fox Valley (or anywhere in Wisconsin) to try to make it to the Going Native event this coming Sunday the 21st of September at Bubolz Nature Preserve just North of HWY41 in Appleton.

I have invited a special guest speaker with extensive knowledge and training in the area of Invasive Plant Identification who is an active weed watcher. The event sets up a new cache that contains the Wisconsin Wildcard series “Alien Invaders” – a cache that can be logged multiple times with UFO (unidentified flora observation) reports, via the cache listing, submitted to an active UFO Google Map. That map will be monitored by weed watchers and significant Alien Invasions will be reported to the DNR.

As geocachers we have a unique opportunity to supply useful information on the identification and spread of invasive plant species and I hope that many cachers will visit the Alien Invasion cache (not published yet), grab a deck of plant cards for their geobag and then think about invasive plants as they cache across the state. And perhaps, when you are on the trail and see an invader, stop in to post an Alien Invasion report.

What a wonderfully unique and creative cache idea! Kudos! Wish I lived closer and could take part.

Awesome event today. Fun and educational all in one 😀
I’ll be carrying my “deck of cards” with me.
Thanks for planning it. Speaker did a nice job!
