I think this is the most appropriate place to put this. If not, please move it.

In case anyone’s on the fence about getting the grab bag HQ is currently offering, here’s what was in mine –

    Steampunk Lion Geocoin

    Standard Travel Bug Dog Tag

    Blue Geocaching Logo Tag

    Travel Bug Design Trackable Patch

Sheet Of Small Logo Stickers, Olive Colored

Mini-Compass With Geocaching Logo On Back

Compare to the one I bought last year –

    Steampunk Hummingbird Geocoin

    Standard Travel Bug Dog Tag

    Geocaching Logo Trackable Patch

    Geocaching Pen

    Geocaching Logo Decal

    Geocaching Rubber Bracelet

    My thoughts?

    – I wasn’t surprised by the standard dog tags. Need one all-purpose in there, after all.

    – Something tells me the Steampunk Geocoin series was not very popular.

    – When ordering this year’s bag, I almost ordered the blue logo tag in addition! Very happy when I saw it included.

    – The compass is clearly swag, and not meant to be practical. Not complaining about that, just saying.

    – The stickers will be handy once I stop being too cerebral about hiding caches. Seriously, cautious introverts should not be cache hiders.

    – Was glad to add the pen to my collection last year. I never leave the house without at least 2, anyway, and not just when geocaching.

    – Still figuring out what to do with the first patch. I’m not a patch person, so it’s either just send it out on its own, or use the tracking number on a home-made tag.

In all, I feel I got a good deal both times. I would not have ordered the two geocoins on their own, but they’re still nice to have. I think anyone who’s into the trackable part of geocaching should have a dog tag on standby, just in case an inspiration for a trackable comes up. The pouches they came in are useful, too. I’m using mine to hold the geocoins I send out proxies for.

When I checked before posting, it appeared they were still available. The one complaint I do have about it is that it took longer than expected for it to arrive via free shipping – I ordered it a day or two before the Cache Bash, and it arrived Monday. Would have posted right away, but my Internet is down at home, and won’t be fixed until Friday (hopefully).

They seem to offer them at least once a year. Makes sense for them, as it gives them an opportunity to unload items that might not be moving. I’m not necessarily talking about the steampunk coins. If you look at the contents of both my bags, you see what I mean. That’s not a complaint, BTW. I don’t feel I got junk with the patches & non-trackables. They’re just items I would not have consciously ordered. Like I said, I feel I got a good deal both times.

Next time HQ offers up the grab bag, I’ll give this thread a bump as a reminder of my experience.

I know I ordered mine earlier today. Supposedly having 6 trackables? Figured I’d buy into that especially guessing that it may include some of the clearance ones I’ve been on the fence with getting anyways. See what I get and then place another order if they are still available.

Yeah, I figured $20 for 6 TBs was a pretty good deal, even though I still have a few to activate. I’m wondering which Steampunk coin I’ll get this time! 🙂

If I remember correctly, because I qualified for free shipping both times (this time, too – I found this new grab bag when I was there to buy other stuff), it took awhile to arrive. And, the grab bags last time went really fast. So, chances are pretty good they’ll be sold out before you get your first order.

Good Luck! As with last time, I’ll post what I get in mine for those interested.

Guess what? HQ is at it again! Grab bags for Halloween! https://shop.geocaching.com/default/recently-added-items/trick-or-treat-trackables-grab-bag.html

I ordered mine as well as for some WGA raffle prizes.

Mine showed up today as well. My Loot was

-Rot13 Decoder Geocoin- Antique Silver ($10)
-DĂa de Muertos Travel Tag ($5)
-Custom Trackable GeoDog Brick- German Shepherd ($5)
-2018 GIFF Nano Gnome Charm ($6)
    -Generic Travel Bug ($5)
-Hidden Creatures Travel Tag- Mermaid ($5)

So $20 for $36 of trackables. All items are still full price and available on their website so I was surprised with that. All in all I guess no complaints.

Just got mine! Here’s my haul –

Standard trackable tag – because there can’t be a grab bag from HQ without one. Always handy to have if you’re into trackables.

Mermaid Lego figure – my 11 year old cousin Kaitlyn’s going to be jealous! I got her the mermaid Cachekinz, and she talked me out of a different Lego mermaid from my swag bag. Then promptly married her off to the Sharkboy Lego she also talked me out of.

Mercury Geocoin – not sure if I agree with a lot of what an astrology site says about Mercury & my sign, but since I’m not big on astrology, anyway, and I think the coin looks cool, that’s good enough for me.

Gryphon Hidden Creatures Trackable Tag – according to the accompanying souvenir (which was earned with 20 caches), a gryphon represents wisdom and strength.

Dia de Muertos Trackable Tag, Black – skull imagery isn’t really my thing, but whatever.

Signal trackable charm – HQ actually calls it a nano geocoin, but ask any girl, and she’ll tell you it belongs on a charm bracelet.

According to my calculator, that’s $37.94 in TBs for $19.99. Taking into account “real” value – that is, the cost of the items I may have purchased on their own – and I still think I got a good deal. Now to get them out there moving!

HQ is at it again –

    https://shop.geocaching.com/default/stocking-grab-bag.html

I’m VERY tempted, but I still have unactivated trackables to activate. Still, that “geocoin that has not been released” is pulling me in…

I haven’t activated mine from the grab bag either. With the new souvenir being trackables, I think I’ll activate them after Dec. 3.

I activated the Signal charm, because I’m going to use it as an overall mileage bug. I’m about half-way through my 1000+ caches. It’s really too small to send out, and I wanted to do this for awhile, so this seemed like the best use of it. The other 5 are still unactivated, though, like you, I plan to activate a couple after Monday. And maybe a couple of the ones I’ve had longer, like the two Steampunk coins.

Still tempted to get this new grab bag. Three guaranteed trackables, plus, since it’s $25, the holiday trackable. So, four trackables, a couple of swag items (description is unclear about how much), and maybe a (broken) candy cane.

I activated mine already so that they could be discovered at my GIFF event.

But I also purchased this grab bag as well and is looking like it will be delivered come Friday since I was going to purchase other things as well.

Tip out there that I have figured out. Each year at this time of the year I always get my premium membership. I always buy the gift certificate premium membership (for myself 🙂 who says I can’t gift myself) which automatically gets me the free trackable they always have. In the past I have bought the combos with geocoins or additional items for additional value. Spend $5 more get the free shipping. But I like to get the free trackable with my membership…… granted usually spend more money and get a second trackable haha
